Nice course. Challenging greens
Course was in really good shape. Greens were challenging but in great shape.
Always a good choice
Good course, great staff. The back nine is the most challenging, with water in play on several holes.
Can’t beat a 3 hour round on a Saturday morning
As usual greens are flawless and pin positions take advantage of it (although it’s time to move #9 pin) where you are absolutely punished for misjudging speed. Rest of course is just average but I can deal with that when greens are good, price is right and pace of play is great.
Great value option
Surrounded by nature. Nice layout. Decent challenge. Friendly staff. Greens in great shape. Only downside: tee boxes need work but great value option overall
Great Course and Value
Course had many elevation changes, challenging holes, and great greens. I thought it was great fun and low price too!!
Country course.
Basically a country course with unidentifiable fairway grass, where there was grass. Not crowded when I played and no pairing. Was forced to play alone which slowed my pace of play when I caught member threesome that refused to let me play through. Course felt as though it was in the mountains with the rolling terrain. Bermuda greens were in amazing shape. Greens were small and hard to hold. Would not recommend based on distance from Raleigh and overall conditions.
Greens are Excellent
Fun, quirky layout. The greens are in excellent condition (Bermuda).....small greens with lots of slope! Rest of course in average condition for a typical NC summer.
I’d play it again
The course layout is very good, and the greens were in excellent condition. The traps, not so much,. They were hard pan, and grass growing in them. The course is fairly hilly, and there are a few blind shots, but that’s expected. I’ll be back!
Challenging greens
Played on a Friday afternoon hot deal for $20 and course was almost empty so played in 3 hours. Typical conditions for this course. Greens are flawless and will bite you if you lose concentration for a second. Rest of course is hit and miss so you have to roll ball to get grass in some spots. Good mix of holes and some elevation changes to deal with too. Don’t let the yardage fool you though. Play the whites unless you are a single digit handicapper. Much harder course from the back tees.
The layout is perfect for my game
I love the layout of the course. It is not terribly long but has some challenging holes. For me who does not drive the ball long (250) makes the par 5s perfect risk reward holes. The fairways are not great but just play preferred lies and you will find a place to hit from. The greens were recently aerated, and they were very very slow this time. I’ve played these greens when they’ve been rolling close to 11 on the stimp meter.
All in all for the value you get on golf now it is well worth the price of admission.
Not what you expect from a “country club”
Ok, first I have to say the staff is great, and the members are super proud of their club. They’ve invested in the greens, and they’re very nice, but everything else is beyond bad. You can’t even determine where the fairway ends and the rough begins bc there literally isn’t grass on 16 of the 18 holes. I’ve never been in a fairway and hitting off of dirt. There isn’t grass but there are definitely weeds, weeds everywhere, in fact If there weren’t weeds there wouldn’t be anything green on the course. I feel so bad dinging the course bc it really is a good layout, but I also feel duped bc when I go to a “country club”, I’m expecting a higher level of maintenance
Odd layout, interesting greens, poor tee boxes and fairways
The layout is dramatic--lots of elevation changes, a few too many blind shots, but definitely interesting. Some of the holes are poorly conceived--there's a par 5 with a lake placed so that it's nearly impossible to clear on your second shot and nearly impossible to reach the green in 3 if you don't. Expect a few good shots to produce frustrating results.
The greens are in good shape. They're quite severe, so arrive ready for big breaks and decent approach shots that won't hold the green. The tee boxes and fairways are in very poor shape. There's no delineation where the fairway ends and rough begins, the grass is patchy and full of weeds--you'll be playing winter rules here in the middle of summer.
It's cheap, and the people who run the place seem very nice. Those are the biggest pluses. I don't think I'll be returning.
Goat trail
The course is pretty beat up. I play from the back tees and the course does not take care of then at all. Most of them were patchy and poorly placed; done were even on side hill less.
The course becomes so soft after rains that my balls plugged in the fairway on nearly half of them.
The greens did roll true but were difficult to read.
It's a great practice course
