Course is in terrible shape
I played this course last year and the greens were in great shape but they are completely gone. There is hardly any grass on them, mostly just dirt and sand. I don't know if they will recover, especially since it will soon be very hot. Not sure what happened but it is impossible to make a putt outside the leather. Rest of the course is not in great shape either. Fairways were spotty and unmowed. Tee boxes had very little grass. Very disappointing at any price. I won't be playing there again.
Nice layout BUT…
Horrible condition of greens and fairways. For spring conditions end everything is lush and green this course had burnt out greens and dirt fairways. The course has potential as its layout was good but you would have to put a lot of work into restoring it before I would rate it more than 2 stars.
Ron’s SG golf experience
All was good with the exception of the greens with many of them on the verge of burning out if not attended to soon
Back nine greenling better shape than the front
There were low lying areas of fairways still very soggy and the same around several greens
2nd time better score
$32 senior rate w/o golfpass, with Golf pass was <$20. will play again at $20 a round. The course is going thru a lot of repair. Greens need help and they are giving them what they need. "Time will tell" There are a lot of "WET AREAS" that you wouldn't expect to see"..Water standing on a hills side?" Green were really fast. "12+". There was alot of discolored spots in the green but did not mess with your putts. I would give them a 3.5 stars. And will play again. @nd round was 7 strokes better than 1st round.
2 Stars is Generous…
2 Stars is a Generous rating here. 1.5 stars is more accurate. It’s a 1 star course purely based on its current conditions but I bumped it up to 2 because there was barely anyone else on the course when we went making pace of play good (likely because no one wants to play there, or the rain the night before: I’ll let you decide) and the price is fairly cheap compared to other courses around here. Tee boxes were the worst I’ve ever played, barely any grass, lots of weeds and not level at all. Struggled to find any spot where my feet weren’t above or below my ball…on the tee box, come on. Fairways were bad condition, could barely tell the difference of a fairway any other part of ground on the course between holes. More weed than grass. Greens were bad, mostly dead/brown, and full of little low weeds scattered throughout (idk the name or type of weed but they definitely throw off putts and just look bad). If you want to hack it up on a goat track for a little cheaper than other courses, but still not worth the price, then this is for you. I will not be returning.
Very nice
I've been playing here for about 10 years and the greens are as good as I've ever seen them. The Bermuda greens are awesome. Rolling about a 9ish maybe 10. Fairways and the rest of the course is just ok condition. It's manageable. Better than others in the area (I'm looking at you Olde Lib and Falls Village)
Tricky little track. Small greens with interesting slopes.
Fun course to play with challenges awaiting you at and on the greens.
Do no play here!
This is one of the worst courses I’ve ever played in my entire life. The tee boxes were super uneven and barely had any grass. All the fairways had no grass to hit off of, and were filled with nothing but Poana and weeds. Half of the greens were dead, and had large chunks of poana that threw your ball off line. The layout is the worst I’ve seen. Will never play here again!
The Wind Is Blowing Again
It was very windy, but of course it was March. The course was still wet from earlier rain. I've come to like this course over the last couple of years. It took a few times playing here to appriciate the layout. The reason for my low rating is that the greens need improving & the pace of play is slow because of to many singles & groups of 2 that were spread out during my round. I was by myself, but nobody seemed interested in grouping up. I finally skipped 4 holes just to get on pace to finish.
Nice!
They put in bermuda greens a couple years ago and they are now better than I have ever seen them in 10+ years of playing this course. Rolling a 9ish. The only prob now is they are almost too fast for some of the slopes on the greens. But what a good prob to have.
Tricky little course. Good overall condition.
Keep up the good work SGCC!!!
Enjoyed my round
Was cold and a little wet but still enjoyable. Staff was very friendly.
Glad i went
First time at the course and it was a great value for the money. Some of the holes need some work and better markings (especially the path for #8) would certainly help. But overall, I enjoyed my day out there.
