Nice layout but course had numerous wet spots in fairways and on/around greens

No frills for the price paid

No course Marshall to move along very slow players which added at least 30-minutes to our round and ruined momentum of play

Tees were in bad shape. Fairways were spotty. Greens were bumpy with patches of crab grass.

Several of the tee boxes were so worn they looked more like sand traps, and the greens could definitely use some attention. The staff, on the other hand, was super friendly. Given the course’s current condition, I think the rates should be discounted. That said, it’s a good spot for casual rounds and practicing your game.

The staff treated me well, did not act pretentious like so many of the high dollar courses around Hilton Head. The layout, original design was good, challenging with opportunities at forgiveness when needed. The general conduit of the course was not what was expected, Greens were sketchy, with some showing bare ground patches

Course is in such awful condition. Tee boxes have no grass, lots of standing water and greens are dreadful. Not worth the price charged

On days with dew don’t play before noon as fairways stay wet making balls hard to find

Lost several balls that should have been easy to spot

THE GOOD

The layout is very good with lots of variety and risk reward holes.

Staff was very friendly at the bag drop and the pro shop. Rough was thick and deep, don’t miss the fairway.

NOT SO GOOD

Tee boxes are very bad and virtually all of them

Fairways on the thin side but I’d say the back 9 was much better than the front 9

Greens were good on speed but quite a few have a lot of areas that need help with areas that are sparse with grass.

INFO: I understand there are new owners and you can see they are working on the course, it’s just not there yet. For the price I paid $45 I would never complain especially in the Hilton head area, I’m looking forward to trying it again next year and see the progress.

This could be an awesome course with its layout!!

To be fair we did have rain over the weekend however I would have expected the course to be fairly dry by the time we played. Turns out it was cart path only and the course was a muddy mess

Got a Hot Deal so the price was right! Tee boxes were in very rough shape! Greens were slow and had weeds.

Pace of play was excellent because no one else was on the course!

Staff was very nice (pro shop and starter)

I know they have received lots of rain, but that was not the only reason for the bad conditions. Almost every hole was like walking in a swamp. Tee boxes were horrendous, with very little grass on them. Other than the soggy ground, the fairways were decent. Lots of bare patches on the greens. Layout was interesting and this could be a very good course if the conditions were better. Nice people in the pro shop and the starter.

Nice layout. This was probably in the past a really nice course... in the past!

Tee boxes ...awful.

Greens so slow and weeds on and close to the greens.

Rough... so rough you can't find a ball even when you know where it is.

Fairways is the best part...really not perfect, but compare to the rest, it is the best part.

Have to say the second nine was in better shape than the first... would have give 3 stars instead of 2 ...

75$ is really too much for those conditions. Add 40$ and play almost all the best course of the area...and they are in nicer conditions, a lot nicer, than Island West

First the positive, the starter was very kind and nice.

I think that was a great course several years ago. The layout is great! A lot of could be nice holes!

The second nine is in better shape than the first. First nine is pretty awful, not a lot of good things on this nine, except the layout

But... the conditions are bad. There is almost no grass on tee boxes, greens are so slow... and with a lot of weed on it.

The rough...what can I say...you see the ball stops , you saw it, you know where it is...and searching 5 minutes for it...and you may or may not find it, .it is so long, not fun.

Pace of play is good because there is not a lot of players on the course.

75$ is way too much for the conditions this course is, even in Hilton Head Island.

There is so many better courses in the area. Pay the $40 extra bucks and enjoy a nice course in Hikton Head.

We played here a year ago, and felt that course was decent value for money. A tricky, narrow layout, but fun to play.

This time we were very disappointed.

Many of the tee boxes were in rough shape, and almost all of the greens were in very poor condition.

A lack of basic maintenance was obvious, and a mower clearly hadn't visited most of the grass (tees, fairways & greens) for several days

Greens and fairways are in great shape, tee boxes need a little work. I liked the course design it was very playable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I will be back.

Played Island West while on vacation. Was disappointed in the course conditions for the price. Tee boxes were in bad shape, lots of bare spots and weeds. Greens also had weeds growing in on the edges. I enjoyed they layout but for the price I will look elsewhere next time.

Played course in past but conditions today were not the best - fairways were good but greens were slow and somewhat weedy at times - tee boxes were worn a bit also - would probably not play again on this trip

This course either needs water to drink on it, or a cart girl. It was very hot.
