Renegade Course at Desert Mountain Golf Club

Renegade reopened earlier this year after Nicklaus returned to modernize his one-of-a-kind course, where golfers can choose to play to the easier white flag or the tougher yellow flag. He split his old double greens into two separate putting surfaces, added tees and made other cosmetic changes to try to balance the play evenly between the two different greens.

Between the multiple tees and multiple greens, the course can play to hundreds of different routing combinations.

Our group played to the white flags on the front and yellow on the back. We even moved up a tee on the back but the yellow flags still beat me up. Those greens tend to be surrounded by bunkers and more elevated.

While it's not my favorite course on property, I could see it being fun for members looking to play a match. The twosome (or individual) that wins the hole gets to deem which flag to aim at next. The strategy and variety would be endless.
