Scotscraig Golf Club

There's no Starter or on course Martials at this Club and they seem to not care or have any control over pace of play. So, if like us you are behind 4 high handicappers who spray their balls all over then can't find them, yet WILL STILL NOT LET ANYONE THROUGH (even though there were clearly up to 3 groups on every tee behind them) it is torture. If you hit straight the course is not that difficult in good weather. We told the young lads in the Pro Shop at the half way point but they just shrugged. We gave up. £100 each totally wasted and really wish we had played somewhere else. Would not recommend and would not return.

Really fun , interesting course. Conditions were great and weather perfect!! Golf course was amazing but the members and the clubhouse back porch was the stars. This course is a hidden gem, if in St Andrews area this is a must play!!

I enjoy this course more every time I play it. Its challenging but fair, is always in good condition and the pros always make you feel welcome.

Loved the course, but hated the slow pace of play, took 4 and a half hours.Too many people playing. Can understand that clubs need the revenue but slow play detracts from enjoyment of the game, Staff friendly and helpful. Played at green fee rate that was reduced due to Covid, felt the price was ok. Played other courses in the area and this course was comparable to others at this price but didn’t feel it merits the usual pre Covid price .

Admin completed ok, off on time. Course very busy and longish waits at tee, round took 4 and a half hours. Felt there was too many players on the course within short tee spaces. Course itself was in good condition and facilities good.

easily one of the best courses in the area and definitely one of my favourites but the pace of play was appalling. We waited on every single shot which spoilt the day.

Great lay out very enjoyable greens excellent but some fairways sparse of grass after the hot summer last year

Staff and food both excellent and I would say a bargain through tee off times at £45

I was looking forward to playing here more than any place else on our trip. It didn't disappoint. For starters, the staff was terrific and lunch was great.

But it's an overall cool spot. You pull up, park, walk across the street and there you are. The course was brown because of the dry Scottish summer but that didn't matter. It's fun to hit golf shots that roll for miles because that never happens in the states.

I think it would benefit to play this course more than once. There were a few quirky spots where it would've been good to have more information, but it didn't happen so often that it was a problem.

A cool experience. Love golf in Scotland.

This is a good course to begin your golfing experience to other link courses throughout St Andrews

This course reminded me of Sunningdale or Walton Heath, and I certainly wouldn't have got a round for £31 at either of them! I liked that the par fours generally seemed to be in the 390-yard range rather than 420 or 430: that put them in my range rather than having to be played as par fives. Took seven to escape from a bunker halfway down the fourth which ruined my score there and then but I loved it nonetheless.

This was my first time playing golf in this area and I was amazed at how much fun the course was. I played it on a flat calm and mild day so it was fairly easy to score well however I could imagine how difficult it can become if the wind blows, it would make the gorse lined fairways seem very narrow.

I would definitely recommend stopping by and playing this course, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

This course was used as a an Open Qualifying course in 2010 and I can see why. It is very challenging, especially the front 9, and if you cannot hit the ball straight, be prepared to lose a lot of balls as the gorse bushes (known locally as 'Whins') will gobble up your balls and there is no chance of retrieving them from the bushes. That said, the greens are very fast & true and a pleasure to putt on.

This was a good day with a great friend. We played at noon and got round in just over 3 hours. I have seen the course in better condition but it was still good. And it was a special day as I had a hole in one, at the sixth with a seven iron. No huge excitement, though, as I've been lucky enough to have sixteen of them in the last 51 years. Scotscraig is a great day out. Try it!

A little off the well-beaten path from St. Andrews, this very historic heathland course is very relaxed and has the feel of an old, local club. Like most inland Scottish courses, the rural scenery surrounding the course is very pleasant. If you want an affordable afternoon round after playing one of the many nearby links, this is a nice option for that.

Challenging layout and course in great condition. They have had problems with greens but well on the road to recovery if still a bit slow. Great value and will go back to play later in the week.

Decent track , greens were not up to the required standard.
Th green fee should be reduced until such time as the greens contain grass!
