Riverside Golf Course
About
Riverside Golf Course is located on the northwest side of Janesville near the Rock River. Opened in 1924, it is one of the oldest courses in the area and over the years it has earned the reputation of being one of southern Wisconsin's best public courses. The course has also been recognized as one of the 50 best public golf values in the country. The gently rolling hills of the landscape provide the course with rolling, tree-lined fairways and large, undulating greens, which are framed by strategically placed bunkers. Riverside is a challenging course but not so difficult that beginners should be intimidated. The classic layout is quite forgiving and versatile enough for a range of skill levels, one reason why it is the host to the Ray Fischer Tournament, one of the Midwest's most prestigious amateur events.

Great value, amazing greens for a muni course
Riverside has really fast, smooth and tricky greens -to me they make the course, and keep us coming back. The layout / track is fun to play for all levels. They had a lot of work being done e on the course - appears removing fairway bunkers and placing sod. Makes sense for costs of maintenance of traps and playability. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Pace of play was also solid at under 4hours with a full tee sheet. They have a practice range/range balls… ok for quick warm up but the turf you hit off isn’t great / mown rough area. The price value is among the best in the state. We will be back.
Fun, well kept track
Often play this course. Fairly open with some tee shots which demand some shaping, but a fun overall course for all levels. Clubhouse is more basic when it comes to a place to sit afterwards for a post round drink, but the golf is great. Can be a bit more pricey compared to other local courses
Had rained the night before
It had rained the night before and I understand the course being wet but could have had maintenance blow greens off so they weren’t soaked other then that course is amazing
Be careful
I enjoyed the past opportunities to play this course. But be very careful if you don't want to be sent emails you don't want anymore. I moved away and no longer am in the area and I continue to get solicitation emails. The emails do have an unsubscribe link but it doesn't work. Repeated calls to the pro shop, emails to the mgmt and no change, no response. Not sure it's worth the future hassles to sign up on their system.
Pretty good course
Course is well kept, but the layout is confusing and the cart paths dissappear and reappear randomly. Would definitely play it again tho.
Great course
2nd time playing. Love this course. Can be some tricky shots around trees. Fast greens. Well maintained.
Great shape
Everything about this course is first right tee boxes greens Fairways. Even the rough was cut correctly. Tough course if you don't play for the right tee boxes. Lots of fun nice people I'll play it again
Great Course
One of my favorite courses. Course was in excellent condition. Some area being reseeded so they were roped off but fairways, greens are excellent. We got around in under 4 hours on a Wednesday. Staff is super friendly and helpful. All around a great course.
Interesting Course
Is an interesting course. However had issues with course maintenance being done during play, slowing pace of play, also had plenty of wild life all over (more deer then I could count), which made me even more leary of the tall well overgrown rough, and the potential of other wildlife (especially snakes) that you may not see if you hit a stray shot and decide to search for your ball. Tee boxes were fantastic, fairways and greens were in good condition, due to recent rain many bunkers were like small ponds. However, as the usual, once you get past the 9th here, your pretty much by yourself for the back 9.
