Girvan

This is a lovely course run by the local authority SAC. It is few miles from Trump Turnberry. The course is split 8 x holes on the shared coastline as Turnberry then short walk to the Parkland part of the course. The links 8 x holes are very straight and not challenging (if it was a clear and still day) however a puff of wind on the Ayrshire coastline changes things and found it pushed me to concentrate as gusts of wind and drizzle affecting the ball. The Parkland back 10 (yes 10) are decent too and well laid out. The greens on both sides are mainly flat so generally put straight and it's there. The groundsman and start I spoke to were really nice and welcoming. Only draw back is there are no facilities as clubhouse is closed. Kevin (5.3 handicap)

Great value and was nice to have half links style and parkland setup, could do with some more signage to navigate to the next holes and last hole has a very tricky tee position with large trees to hit over if you struggle with that type of shot.

Course in good condition, first 8 holes links, 10 then parkland, some long par 3’s. Clubhouse closed since July so no facilities other than toilet & locker room.

Great wee course. First eight by the sea with beautifull veiws to Arran and Ailsa Craig. Then cross the road to a more sheltered parkland course. Beutifull 5th hole hitting down from white tee. Last 4 holes are excellent where shot choice is key. Good condition for price. Will definately return. Great sunny July day with a challenging wind in the seaside holes

Thoroughly enjoyed our first time at Girvan golf course. Well kept greens.

Good fair priced golf course. Not overly difficult so not too many balls needed. Fantastic situation looking over at paddy’s milestane. You won’t be disappointed.

Great wee course for money. Good condition, and friendly members gave hints and tips in the car park before going out. Sorry to hear the clubhouse is closing in July.

Very pleasant round in warm conditions. Course, with the exception on a few bunkers, well maintained.

Great course 8 holes links , 10 holes parkland played on the wettest Sunday ever and still had a smile on my face. Few puddles on the parkland side but greeens were excellent considering it’s rained for 14 days straight. Well recommended for under £15 at a weekend

There are no facilties at Girvan Golf Course but there is a starter hut by the car park and 1st tee. We had a very warm and helpful welcome from the guy in the starter hut. Other players were friendly. The course was in really good condition and the holes (1 - 8) were testing on the sea side. The last 3 on the parkland side (9 - 18) were tough.

First 8 holes of the course stunning views over to Ailsa Craig. Fairways and tee boxes have seen better days but greens in great condition. Back 9 basic and a little featureless but easy scoring holes. Worth playing just for the views as only £30. Got my first hole in one on 18 so will forever be a special place to me! Unfortunately as a solo I was stuck behind 4 groups of 4 balls and wasn’t much in the way of offers to play through, nice sunny day and views so no real issue.

Very beautiful with views to Ailsa Craig. The course was in great condition with some really interesting holes. The staff member at the starter box was super helpful. The only unusual thing was the womens’ tees were behind the mens’.

Always look forward to playing Girvan as it's an easy ozy day with fabulous views!

Well kept course made special by the 8/10 links/parkland split. Nice challenge without many hills or any blind shots. Well worth a visit - particularly when the sun shines.

Staff was superfriendly, we could stay overnight with our RV (thansk you)

Played the course for the first time and was really impressed. First 8 holes were links style right beside the water, with stunning views, and next 10 were parkland style. I must admit parkland section was better maintained than the links section, especially the tees. Only downside was nowhere to go for a drink after the round as clubhouse ceased trading a few weeks before my visit. Would definitely play again next time I’m in the area.

Ideal short course, not too complex but with some fun, tricky holes. One area under repair but overall in really good condition. Great scenery too
