Shocking condition
I’ve played Manila many times over the years. It was in disgraceful condition. The fairways hadn’t been coy for maybe 2 weeks. I know tge council have often proposed shutting it but whike is us still in play it needs more care.
Rough to long
Good coarse, needs grass cuttings picked up .. Rough needs grading a bit better if not on fairway ball is lost .
Beautiful course with gorgeous views
Nice 9 hole course with beautiful views over the local area. The course was unmanned, not sure if this is at all times or just a Sunday so we didn’t see any staff. 1st hole wasn’t signed we were guided by locals to the first tee and advised what flags to aim for as the course is also used for footgolf.
Course is a mix of up and downhill so definitely get a workout while playing around.
Overall I’d say it’s a great course (from a novice point of view)
A great wee 9 hole course
Thoroughly enjoyed a round of golf at Maybole with my son, and a friend. The course was in good condition... And it was a great test for my son who was playing his first round of golf - ever, and testing enough for us too.
The football golf works well alongside the golf, we even managed a chat with some who were competing at football golf, very passionate they were too.
I would recommend this course for all beginners, and others like me and my friend who don't play often.
A great day out
Sun and views
On first glance the course was not inviting, no staff, no signage but once we started we enjoyed the challenge and the lack of pressure from other players: the few we met were very friendly and helpful in guiding us to the layout. A map would have helped enormously but for £5 it couldn't be bettered.
The course was being maintained while my son was playing. All was good. Glad to see all of the dog poo being removed from the boxes situated at the tees because it was stinking. Maybe some dog poo bins situated on the dog walking routes away from tees and greens would improve the course. Also, no nearby toilet facilities was disappointing. Otherwise a nice and challenging course. Great for my son who is just getting started.
Course layout a bit confusing. No staff there or anything. Rough very tough, greens poor. A lot of blind shots so take a few balls.
Nothing tells you course layout or anything. For £5 you can't complain though.
Beginners value
Course was a bit boring holes wise all very similar. For £5 each it was reasonable value and good for teens who are still learning. Conditions were fair although bins could be doing with emptying and there’s literally no facilities (toilet/vending machine/person!) so be prepared for that. No score cards either we ended up having to download a map of the course from a golf app so we could work it out.
Even for £5 I think they could do better
Excellent value for money!
This 9 hole course gets 4 stars from me because of how cheap it is to play (if it were £25/round it would get 3 stars). £5 is excellent, I've paid £25 for courses that are in a lot worse condition. It's not Pebble Beach or Royal Troon obviously but it's in decent condition for £5 I was expecting a lot worse so I was pleasantly surprised. The fairways I'd rate 7/10, Greens 6/10 and the rough 4/10.
Great course for practicing or to play for fun.
Tidy 9 hole course
Small tidy 9 hole course. Well kept and playable. Views great. Club house permanently closed no facilities. Worth a play for a fiver.
A little hidden gem
Managed to get a tee off for today for £2.99 which is incredible, so was not expecting much. Too be honest this little course is a hidden gem., Although January they were on full greens with raked bunkers.
It’s a 9 hole course that you play twice to make 18 which helps as many blind drives and shots Etc so second time round you have a better idea of where to aim.
Unfortunately the club house was shut which was a shame.
We literally had the course to ourselves. The weather held well and the sun even made an appearance.
Honestly liked the course and would play again.. especially for the price paid..
Dog Walkers
The course is full of dog walkers off putting when trying play a game of golf also dog poo over the course would not recommend also guys playing practice golf on the course not recommended and very hilly do not recommend playing
Great little 9 hole course
Played today for the first time, stopped off on way back from turnberry and was pleasantly surprised by maybole. Great little 9 hole course very enjoyable, greens are as rough as toast but apart from that i had a great time
