St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Rough tee boxes

Many Tee boxes were in bad shape, but fairways and greens were good. Significant elevation changes making approach to some greens quite challenging.

Perfect challenge

If you approach this course to have fun and not end up with your best score, the course is perfect. It is challenging, but not impossible. My 14 year old grandson shot a 77, and I shot one of the best rounds of the season. Lost a few balls, found a few , but overall, it is not impossible to play well and have a lot of fun.

Terrible pace, tee boxes awful

I’ve played many times but the course needs help. The tee boxes were simply terrible - weeds, divots, uneven. And the pace of play? 4 hours 45 minutes. And there was a marshal working. What’s the point? If you aren’t going to “marshal” stay at home - a shoulder shrug for slow play doesn’t help.

All that - bar staff and food are good. But I did come to golf.

Hidden Gem

It’s been a few years since I’ve played SCN primarily due to my experience 4 years ago (course conditions) however on 7/28 I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the overall conditions of the course, Greens were impeccable awesome job grounds crew! I recommend allowing time to wind down after the round because the restaurant and staff were amazing and the food was outstanding! Thanks SCN for a wonderful day “I’ll Be Back”!

Course conditions appear to have suffered fron the heat

Having played the course many times last fall, I was surprised to see the dry conditions....hopefully some moisture gets the fairways and tees back in shape but the greens were still very good

Beautiful and Challengin

This quickly became one of my favorite courses. I flew in from Houston to MSP, got a rental car, and was there in 40 minutes.

Fun course but tee boxes need work

The course can be challenging. The greens rolled nice. The layout is interesting. But some tee boxes really need some help.

Amazing golf destination

First time playing here. Not going to be the last. I was going to score it down one on the value for money as it’s a bit spendy compared to other courses, but you can see where the money goes so it’s still a five. It is a wonderful course, very well cared for and set out. The elevation changes are massive, like hitting off a cliff edge at times. The fairways were cut to perfection and the rough was thick but not too long, about a ball and a half deep. The greens were some of the best I’ve seen. Very true rolling and quick with tricky drop-offs. Bring your best up and down game. The other facilities are all excellent. Breathtaking views. Well worth a visit.
