Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

Still needs help
I’ve played this course many times and the conditions vary each time. When I last played here, there had been several days of rain that really helped the greens and fairways. Now they are starting to get burnt and spotty
Most tees were bare. Fairways had good and bear areas. Greens were good. One bad feature was the pond on the 10th hole smelled like sewage. That was unacceptable.
Great Rates
Easy to get on at a good price. Depending on the time of day you can breeze through 18 holes in 3 hrs. Course is always playable. The greens are fast and challenging. The staff is great. Been here over 200 times and have met a lot of super people. I’ll keep coming out till I can’t play anymore.
Could be great
This course has a great layout. Unfortunately driving your cart along fairways and rough is a bone rattling experience. Hard pan threadbare fairways littered with ruts. Tees with no grass and greens sprayed with green dye.
Its such a shame it could be so good.
Bunkers are resplendent with weeds as is the rough.
I did give it 3 stars after my last visit as it was only $18 with gof now coupons. Not so good value at $30.
$5 million turns this course around but its not going to happen.
Bad Shape
The fairways are in horrible condition. Much of the “rough” was 6” tall weed patches that looked more like miniature bushes than anything else. Weeds have taken over many fairway bunkers, super hard tight lies around the greens. Don’t waste your money, find somewhere else, anywhere.
Excellent course
A really nice condition for this time of year. Needs a little work but overall in excellent shape. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great bargain for a great course.
The greens were in better than normal conditions. Fairways were in good shape. Unfortunately there was some kind of outage and it was very slow.
Improving
I’ve played this course many times in the past. It has improved a lot since I last played there. The greens were in decent shape, with few bare spots. Tee boxes were spotty, some good, some terrible. Fairways need work to remove weeds and bare spots.
A fun day Eagle Dunes
Eagle Dunes course was average with respect to the fairway. It could use some rain to green up a bit. Sand Traps were in my opinion not well kept. I found it like hitting through wet concrete. Not a typical sand trap.
Other than that, I had a great time and enjoyed playing the course. Wiould come back now that I understand the trap layout.
Terrible conditions
Played at Eagle Dunes in Late-February. The course was in very poor condition. I realize it's winter and central Florida needs rain so maybe it's to be expected but these were perhaps the poorest conditions my group has encountered in the past couple of years. Most of the fairways were incredibly thin with areas absent of any grass. The rough consisted of thin dead yellow grass and dirt. The bunkers had weeds and many of the tee boxes were sparse. The greens may have been the best feature but several had weeds popping up that kicked putts offline, bare spots, and fringe areas that weren't much more than dirt. After the round, the members of our group were unanimous in saying they would not play there again until we could verify conditions have improved. The guys in the pro shop were very nice but, as hard as they might try, that can't make up for the lousy condition of the course. We really want Eagle Dunes to come back. Maybe sometime next fall.
Disappointing Operations and Oversight
Great layout with challenging looks and decent conditions. It’s a shame there is no standard upheld when it comes to etiquette and pace of play. There is no ranger so expect a 4.5+ hour round when u visit. No accountability held for inconveniencing everyone else on the course. Would not recommend unless you consistently have nowhere to be.
Pleasant surprise
After recent freezes, I was expecting a lot of burnt areas. Great to find a lot of green grass fairways and greens. Had a great day.
Greens are improved
Play this course once or twice per winter. The greens have improved. Remainder of the course needs a lot of work. Sand traps and waste areas are unplayable. Grass in the fairway is spotty at best.
Winter conditions
Fairways are in winter conditions, which mean little grass. Greens are in good shape, but slow. Tee boxes are basically bare.
