Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

Rain helps
Course is improving. Recent rains have helped. Green are generally okay, a few with damaged edges. Fairways need work, probably aeration and filling in potholes
Course conditions
The staff is working really hard to improve the course conditions and are progressing nicely. Need the summer rains to help out.
Eagle Dunes is currently having issues with their greens. Play there at your own risk
Greens are like Daytona Beach. Mostly sand
The greens are in serious need of repair. The T boxes are so-so as well.
They have lost a few greens already
Because of green conditions won't play there again in the summer
Greens are in trouble
To see the greens on this course deteriorate is troublesome. They are losing most of them. Maybe something was put on them to make them deteriorate so quickly. What a shame. When I played there last, they were pretty good, but the fairways needed work. Now the fairways are looking much better, but the greens have deteriorated. Maybe they can get their act together again and have a good course like in years past.
In Bad shape
It’s unfortunate what is happening there. Such a great layout, such poor shape. Just like everywhere else, rain would help, but it will take more than rain for these greens to recover. It has to be much cheaper to take care of the greens than to have to redo them.
The guy in the pro shop was friendly.

course is in decent shape with drought going on great layout
On the decline
I have played here many times and have never seen it this bad. The sand bunkers were full of weeds and crabgrass. Most of the fairways resembled a cow pasture and the rough had weeds growing up to 2 feet tall. half the greens were descent but the other half were really bad. On one hole there was a couple of young men that should have been working but were instead smoking pot and hanging out in the shade, they were actually very nice. Not playing again unless they do something to fix it up.
Disappointing
This course used to have the best greens in Central Fl. Not any more. Green on hole 7 is nothing but dirt, other holes were a mixed bag of acceptable to mediocre/poor. Most fairways were heavily rutted and fairway bunkers
filled with weeds. Management is either unwilling or unable to invest money to restore this once proud course.
If you pay more than $25 to play you are going to not be happy. Even practice areas are in decline. Cannot
recommend in current condition
Was Hoping For Better
Overall our group had a fun day and the weather was great. The pace of play was fine as we were neither waiting on anyone or had anyone playing into us. I have no complaints with the staff or pace of play. Everyone was nice.
The course conditions were hard to deal with. Tee boxes were bare and rough. Fairways had only patches of grass ( more bare them turf) and even driving the carts in the fairways were a really bumpy ride. There were many bunkers that had foliage growing in them and the sand was a hard pan making it difficult to make a decent play from the bunkers. Overall the course was really dry. Yes, we have had little rain this year, but I played another course in Orlando the next day and it was green, lush and so much nicer.
The greens were the biggest disappointment with many having very sandy areas you could see from the tee box showing up as white. When not sandy, any turf on the greens had stripes of higher turf which looked like the mower had one blade set higher. It was very odd and hard to putt. The ball would not roll true. This course, while an interesting layout, needs some major help to get it into a playable condition. I was disappointed and will not return.unless I hear they have made a major investment in making it better. Sorry, guys...there are many other options/choices in Orlando with much better course conditions.
Jaxson Berry round at Eagle Dunes
Course was great greens were a little fast but better than being rough, wasn’t too difficult staff was easy and friendly, overall the course was a blast.
Still needs help
I’ve played this course many times and the conditions vary each time. When I last played here, there had been several days of rain that really helped the greens and fairways. Now they are starting to get burnt and spotty
Most tees were bare. Fairways had good and bear areas. Greens were good. One bad feature was the pond on the 10th hole smelled like sewage. That was unacceptable.
Great Rates
Easy to get on at a good price. Depending on the time of day you can breeze through 18 holes in 3 hrs. Course is always playable. The greens are fast and challenging. The staff is great. Been here over 200 times and have met a lot of super people. I’ll keep coming out till I can’t play anymore.
Could be great
This course has a great layout. Unfortunately driving your cart along fairways and rough is a bone rattling experience. Hard pan threadbare fairways littered with ruts. Tees with no grass and greens sprayed with green dye.
Its such a shame it could be so good.
Bunkers are resplendent with weeds as is the rough.
I did give it 3 stars after my last visit as it was only $18 with gof now coupons. Not so good value at $30.
$5 million turns this course around but its not going to happen.
Reviews like this are unethical and 100% misleading, Bay Hill is a 5 star; Eagle Dunes is a 1/2 star mistake. It can't possibly get much worse. it's a cash cow for lease owner who puts nothing into it. Pity.
