Worth the drive.
I LIKE THIS PLACE! :-) This was my first time a RedTail Golf Club and it was a very enjoyable experience. The staff there is very friendly. The course layout is great and, although it tracks through a housing development, it has a natural feel to it. The grass on a few of the greens was sparse, but the roll was true. A challenging course and 80 degree weather made for a great day. I will be making the drive to Sorrento to play here again. :-)
Condition
Course is in rough shape. Tee boxes and greens don't have much grass and fairways are very thin. They probably need to let the grass for 2-3 weeks before the course could be in reasonable shape.
Exceptional
Beautiful course, greens are really fast. They dealt with some frost and are still recovering from it but no doubt they’ll have a beautiful course by the beginning of spring. Great friendly staff at the pro shop & the restaurant. 5 tees to choose from, challenging & fun course altogether.
Greens in very rough shape
For the cost that was paid, having to putt on patches of dirt was disappointing. I love the course and the layout, but seeing the conditions I wouldn’t recommend playing there anytime soon until it was remedied.
Conditions
Very dry and greens were rough. I really like this course but conditions were not good. Especially greens
A good test
Red Tail is an excellent test for golfers of all skill levels. The course conditions have improved and the greens roll fast and true. Some of the sight lines have been improved so it’s easier to aim and find the fairways off the tee. Be sure to select the proper tees, or it can make for long approach shots as course does play long. Red Tail favors high ball hitters and those who can play from undulating fairways. Try to keep your approach shots under the pin, as the greens typically slope severely from back to front. Overall it’s one of the best kept secrets in central Florida.
Beautiful course
One of the nicest courses I’ve played in Orlando area. And one of the best courses for the money
Great course
One of the nicer courses in the Orlando area and the amenities are great
course in rough shape. greens were in bad shape, was told dew to the cold snap.
Conditions
The course has no chipping or bunker practice area. The fairways are in fair condition and the greens definitely need better maintenance.
Always a great layout
Weather hadn’t allowed greens to fill in so had a lot of different actions on the greens.
Very Disappointed
I had heard good things about Red Tail. So we played.
Check in was easy, Staff was very helpful. Cart guy gave us a few pointers.
We decided to let a 4 some go ahead of us as they where much better golfers and we would have slowed them down all day. As we were waiting for our turn ( No Starter) Two men drove past us to the first tee and proceeded to tee off in front of us. Yes they where members.
About the 4th hole they picked up 2 more members and they where now a 4 some.
We waited on every shot.
This is one reason we will not be back.
The course itself was in poor condition. Greens where not overseeded so you are pretty much putting on dirt. There are quite a few bunkers on the course and not a bunker rake to be found.
We teed off at 12:30 and saw the beverage cart girl on the 1st green and then never again.
This is the 2nd reason not to go back.
Greens little rough
Greens are in a little rough condition do you the cold weather.. but always a fun course to play!
Good course, needs a little more attention to detail
For the price you play here compared to others in the area, I expect a little more out of the course than what I got this day. The greens ran smoothly for the most part but when dead in places. The fairways had little to no grass on them. Along with being wet, this was not a great combination. I have played here several times and will be back, but I just expect more from my experience.
As a side note, we were first off this given morning. As a twosome, we made the turn in just over an hour. As we are standing on the 13th tee, about 7-8 golf carts start coming down the fairway. We wait for them to stop on the tee box behind us and we tee off. They mention some of their group was ahead of us on the 14th. So our 2-2.5 hour round turned into just over 3 because we had to wait on every shot for the last 5 holes. Poor planning on the staff's part to throw a large group on the back nine.
Course
We always enjoy playing Red Tail. Great course, challenging but fair. 18th holes unbelievable, but fun.
Terrible conditions
Course was in awful condition, the greens were all burnt up, muddy and bumpy. Definitely wouldn’t recommend, choose any of the courses in the area for a much better value. Will not go back this year.
Enjoyable course, greens need some help
Sadly the greens appear to be struggling. Allot of dead mud spots. Layout was great, overall course condition was solid. Definitely will be going back again.
