RedTail Golf Club
About
Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

Greens are improving
About 5 months ago I thought the course would be shut down as it was in such bad condition. I tried it again and it’s making an improvement specifically in the greens. Not much grass in the fairways. Too bad, as it once use to be a beautiful course.
Soooo much better
Played there about 1.5 years ago and I must say that course conditions have improved immensely. The greens and fairview are in way better shape. I will go back to play more often now and I’m happy to see the improvements. There is more work to be done but hats off to the new management that’s making this possible
Better than expected
I can't believe all the negative reviews. This is a very good and challenging course. It could use some help with the fairways and bunkers. I only saw 1 bad Teebox. Greens were very good. # 7 was closed because of the rain; but the course is very playable. There were only 10 people there and what a shame. I suggest you play this course as it is very reasonable and a great layout.
Course has come such a long way since last year. Greens have a solid foundation now and rolling great. Some bad areas on certain greens but overall, in great shape. Tee boxes could use some love but not really a make or break issue for me. Fairways and rough were decent nothing spectacular but nothing bad either, Bunkers could use some sand, was very we and heavy sand. Looked as if they haven't been raked in a while and just been rained on, Hole 7 was closed due to course holding too much water, Overall this course is in better shape than Black bear and Eagle dunes (with the exception of eagle dunes greens are slightly better) 100% recommend checking this place out right now they are starting to get the course back and it is very promising
Use Hot Deals @ RedTail
First off, love this fun challenging layout, and try to play when in the area. I had a friend that lived at RedTail, and you should see that course back when it was about to go Private/Semi-Private. I don't hit as far as I once did, so course is challenging for me from Whites. The greens & fairways are what matter most in my opinion ......greens a little slow for me, but you could tell they are still healing after aeration a couple weeks back. Sanded spots will get bad reviews, but I think they are headed in right direction. Speaking of sand, not much in bunkers, so don't hit it there anyway. I love the holes 14-17 around a big lake, but don't ask for anything nice to say about #18 (I had to make a lucky putt to avoid DbleBogie) .....its a tough hole for me! #10 is another brutal hole, demanding a big straight drive for any chance of GiR. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals (no complaints when the cost is less) .....I signed in as a single, expecting to get paired up, but didn't & was able to work on a few things alone. Pace-of-Play was not an issue, the group behind me had a 2-hole buffer, and I didn't even see groups ahead of me after #11. Oh, the layout does not return to clubhouse @ #9, but they did have a bev-cart roaming (although she probably didn't last long with not many players). Get the greens up to Par, and players will come to this fun layout.
Great Round — Don’t Believe Reviews
I played here today and was very satisfied with my round. Nothing hindered play, the greens were rolling well, and while there were a few small spots with sand crane damage, over 90% of the surfaces were perfectly playable. I saw some negative reviews that even says it is not playable but decided to give it a try myself. Glad I did! it was more than playable, I don't know what they expect from this price range. It seems like some of those comments might be from people connected to other courses. Overall, a good experience and I’ll definitely be back.
Neglected golf course
Played this course many times and it has never been in such bad condition. The standard of the golf course was unfortunately terrible. Weeds everywhere. The grass on the tees was a not existing, if there was any grass on the tee. Lots of weed on the greens. If you are a decent golfer, don't go here until it is in a better shape.
Turning the corner
This course is completely different than 3 months ago. The staff is bringing the course back to life. Greens are improving only slightly messed up from Sandhills cranes. Course played well . Definitely worth playing again
Not too shabby
I actually really enjoyed the course and it’s my new favorite. So far out of the courses I’m gone to this is the most diverse with 3-5 PAR options. Some putting greens are rough and I did lose over 20 balls because their grass is so high off the fairway but at the same time I found over 20 balls. A win is a win?
Getting better!
Happy to see improvement is being made. Such a great course with a great facility, it would be a shame not to be able to save it. My group played here quite often until it became not worth the expense for the conditions it was in. Played here 9/30 an it is clear to see improvement is noticeable. They have a way to go, but it is much better than last year.
It’s worth giving it another try to help the process!
Course needs to be closed and revamped
Any rating higher than two stars is a fake review. This course use to be one is my favorites but now it is unplayable!! You will lose any ball that is not in the fairway. I wouldn’t play this course for free because you can not putt on the greens they are in such bad shape. Everything needs to be redone.
Needs upkeep
This use to be one of my favorite courses but it is in bad shape now. Course is so bad that we were losing balls in the fairway!! It needs lots of money invested in the course to bring it back to the great course it use to be.
Good Course
This course is very challenging, if you land in the rough just take a drop, no way you are finding the ball, and if you do, you are not getting out. Only negative point is that the cart girls don’t have a card reader, they have to enter the card numbers…
