Turn on the water

Great layout. Tee boxes and greens were in good shape overall. Fairways a bit spotty at times. Rough was nonexistent. Bunkers well maintained. Don’t know if there is no sprinkler system or what. With the lakes around the course, I can’t imagine getting water would be an issue.

Great course but challenging, friendly and nice atmo

Played this course for the first time. Looked at the revirews and decided to go for it. It was up to standards. It was a bit windy and the course is narrow but I would recommend it anyway any day. Had lunch which was good and great service.

Refreshing!

Golf in Florida for the non-country club members is a real hit and miss. Fairways barely have any turf. Sand traps lack the sand you need to lift the ball out. Putting greens are super fast. But not at Deer Island. What a refreshing round of golf! Besides the friendliest staff around, putting these greens made me feel good about my putting again. You could determine your speed and distance consistently on every hole. And they didn't have those little tuff of grass you find on other course greens. Deer Island is a hidden gem!

Deer Island has improved

Top 3 favorite courses in central Fl. Have played this course a dozen times over the last couple yrs. The par 3 #12 that was lost in the hurricane has been rebuilt and worth the wait. I can’t recall a time when this course was in this good of condition. Nice to see new ownership improving their investment. A few tee boxes were in less than ideal shape bit only maybe 3. Greens rolled true and smooth.

One of my favorites

Played morning of 4/1/26. Saw 2 bald eagles, 4 alligators and a raccoon who came to within 5 feet of our cart to get food. Water on almost every hole, very nice layout. We never had to wait, played in 3-1/2 hours. 3 or 4 greens had some bare spots, they were not large, greens were slow, but challenging. Fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape. The natural scenery and water features make this course stand out.
