A little dark, but black bear in a dark tree, hole # 6...appropriate for Black Bear Golf Club! Photo submitted by relivgolfers on 09/29/2013
Needs Help!!!
This course is in dire need of some TLC! The fairways were decent, but the rest of the course was overrun with weeds. The bunkers were mediocre at best. The greens had decent grass, but it was lumpy, soft, and slow. I played here once a long time ago, but I decided to play again based on the positive reviews I read. It’s a shame because the layout is really cool with a lot of elevation change, especially for Florida.
U expected
Played today at blackbear, I’ve read a number of comments in where this is not a traditional style Florida golf course. Although very true, the course is got a number of hills, which makes it challenging and yet allows the average golfer to think about their second and third shots.
Overall, the conditions of the golf course are not bad. The greens are extremely small and very slow. I’m not sure if the maintenance team isn’t cutting them due to the cooler weather, but we found these specific greens to be the slowest that we’ve played on in quite sometime.
Not 100% sure it’s worth the $60 based on the conditions however I would come back and try it again.
Fun track with gaping flaws
I play this course 5 or 6 times a year and really enjoy it.
So during my past visit I decided to look at it as if I was a first-timer! As I walked from the parking lot I noticed that the landscaping has been largely ignored, and the American flag was shredded on the end.
As for the course, the fairways and greens were quite well maintained, but for some reason the bunkers are totally ignored. Most bunkers are ringed with foot-high weeds, with many bunkers having high weeds growing within the bunker itself.
NO course should have foot-high weeds anywhere! If I wanted that I'd visit Eagle Dunes!
Get out the weed-eater, clean up the bunkers AND the parking area landscaping and you'll be good to go.
I'll be back in November with hopes of those improvements!
Management needs to ban this
The 4some in front of us were recording their round like good/good wannabes. Not simply using phones but set up tripods and cameras to record every shot everyone made. They never offered to let us play through and with no Ranger on the course we finally had to skip a hole to get around them. This ruined what would have been a great round on a great course. We won't be back until I hear that this practice has been banned.
Holy cow
Hardest course I’ve played. I wasn’t hitting good, but still. Craters everywhere
Coming along nicely...
tee boxes, fairways and greens in good shape. Worth the trip out to play.
Nice driving range with shot computers too.
Great shape and a quick round
Course is fine....played in 3 1/2 hours. Fairways, tee boxes and greens all in good shape.
Fun, fair course
Course was in great shape, tough but fair, hard to lose a ball out there. Would recommend
Wow!! 🤯
It’s been a while since I had been there, but I gotta tell you it was one of the best days I’ve had at the golf course in a long time!
It’s kinda like one of those feelings when you’ve been gone for a while and you go back home. Everybody’s glad to see you. They treat you right and make you feel right back at home!
From the moment I walked into the moment I left I had an absolutely fantastic time. The golf course was in great shape. The range was impeccable. I had such a good time. I even stayed there for food! Which by the way was delicious.
Now there’s a place around here that gets it about service, everybody a black bear went out of the way to make me and my guest feel more than welcome!
So much so that we’re gonna go back there again and again and again!
We had a great time and I just wanna extend my thanks to everybody who works there because it’s been a while since I’ve had a day like that on the golf course!
And one more thing, we bought some merchandise which was reasonably priced and very fashionable. I might add!
