Mount Dora Golf Club

We were told at check in the greens were not in good shape… every greens was cut show short they were 70 percent bare ground and brown. We were told the greens keeper moved out of state and someone new had cut them that had no experience. It showed!!!! I hope they hire an experienced greens keeper yesterday or they may lose all 18 greens. It’s that serious!!! I’m dumbfounded that whoever did this was clueless while they were cutting them. Not noticing the massive mistake in real time while continuing to mow. The only saving grace was this did not happen during the Florida summer. I wish them the best as we have played there 100’s times and hope to continue to play there.

Disappointing Course Conditions, but Good Pace of Play

My experience at Mount Dora Golf Club was disappointing overall. The greens were in poor condition and extremely small, making them difficult to play. The rough was way too high, and even when I saw exactly where my ball landed, it was almost impossible to find. The grass around the greens was also too high, thick, and mushy, making short-game shots frustrating.

The bathrooms were not well maintained, and the lack of a driving range was another downside.

On the positive side, the pace of play was good, and some holes had interesting layouts that offered a nice challenge.

Overall, the course has potential, but it needs significant improvements in maintenance, especially the greens, rough, and areas around the greens. Unfortunately, the course conditions took away from what could have been an enjoyable round.

Good value not the prime course but very beautiful in its own regard and nice long oar 4 and 5’s. Very good greens and not so much tee boxes but if you want a great Golf Now price hot deal, grab it and enjoy my Fira. Super great staff.

the course seems to be going in reverse...the greens are terrible , slow , hard as a rock and the greens mower left gouges in every green . Fairways are a little better but the rough is impossible , lost 3 balls just feet from the fairway.

Overall the course is in decent shape for this time of the year. I've Mount Dora multiple times in 2026 and I can see some stress of the season in the fairways and greens. I still enjoy playing Mt. Dora. However, if you are in the rough you better have a spotter! Come on Chris, cut it a little lower! LOL!

Course in decent shape...if you stay in the fairway

So when your rated 4 out of 5 stars but you don’t keep the place to that standard tells me friends and others are giving dishonest ratings, the fairways were cut 30 to 40 yards wide of that and still had to look for your ball cause the grass was so tall the greens were decent but needed to be rolled and tamped and grass cutt shorter hands down horrible round I have played in a long time

I really liked the background being the course. It being made from WWII veterans was really cool. The fairway was kind of not maintained super well, first time I’ve ever played on elevation like that so that was cool. The greens were super slow, and if your ball went into the rough you just weren’t finding it. Upside is that it was super wide so you could just grip it and rip it,

It’s a great course and in pretty good shape. It’s been kept up well.

The club house, out buildings are in rough shape but non essential for a good round.
