Golfer Reviews
Great day - friendly welcome - brilliant views
First time playing - made to feel very welcome by the Pro Shop and Rob the solo member on the Tee who invited me to join him and then gave me a full insight to each hole and the views around the course. Course itself was obviously parched but a pleasure to play. Fun Tee shots, narrow and long greens, a really nice afternoon in the sun. Two contrasting 9s both with merits, definitely on my to do list every time I come down to Cornwall. Clubhouse great for cold one afterwards overlooking first hole and Bay below. Thanks to Rob (member) for his hospitality.
Great value, interesting course, brilliant views, friendly members
Played on a warm and calm day whilst on hols, was a relaxed and friendly welcome from the Pro. On the first Tee a member playing on his own too offered to pair up and I gladly accepted for some much needed local guidance. Although most Tee shots were fairly open and inviting the narrow entrance to a variety of raised, long and angled greens made the approaches tough to deal with. Definitely two different 9s, front more links overlooking the bay and beyond from cliff tops back 9 the other side of the railway line more parkland and tree lined. Both a good test but fun to play. Course scorched but rough just thick enough and not too long to make the game a little bit easier. Bunkers had a lot of sand, as you’d expect but fair enough. Not a long course and greens were slow and varied but given the weather it’s understandable they were not cut too low. A beer afterwards in the Clubhouse overlooking the first and bay below was well earned. Great day, worth doing if you’re in the area. Made all the better by the hospitality and welcome of Rob, the member, who helped give me a heads up on where not to go, although I mostly still went there.
Wonderful afternoon of golf
What a wonderful afternoon of golf! Played during the autumn, where the views were stunning, but on a glorious sunny day wow! Words can’t describe how picturesque it is! Absolutely amazing staff in the clubhouse, and greens in perfect condition. Even with all this dry weather the course was look after so well! Such good value for money, even if it is just for the views! You need to play here.
Worth the green fees
A beautiful course, well groomed and a really nice challenge.
Stunning. Must play course.
Staff were lovely, course was incredible. Lack of range/chipping green is the only minor issue.
Will play there again for sure.
£37 on golf now deal was excellent value.
Great costal course
Great costal course, plays more like a parkland than a links but as you can imagine the wind can get up. Played in February and the course conditions were fantastic. Practice facilities were ok (green and net) but nothing amazing.. I believe there is a range next to the 17th but you need to use your own balls.
Would definitely recommend, especially in the UK winter!
Favourite Cornish Course
Great course to visit whilst on holiday.
Challenging holes nice par 3’s
10th Hole is great for coastal views.
Carlyon Bay
Took two friends to play a course I know well having learnt to play golf at the club many years ago.
Great setting, welcoming staff and brilliant location.
Decent round for all three of us, but disappointed with the condition of the tee boxes. Other than that, great day out.
Lovely course
Bit rainy when I played, so some views obscured by mist.
Course fab...greens alot better than the reviews suggest....must have had some work done.
Would definitely play again
Very enjoyable round
We played this course on a beautiful sunny afternoon, which showed off the stunning location to its best. The course had plenty of challenge, but was also very playable and the atmosphere in the clubhouse and on the course was very friendly. Would definitely recommend and play there again.
Disappointed
I’ve played here a few times now, and never have the greens and fairways been so neglected. I appreciate they are getting ready for the summer season but some of the greens were pretty much unplayable and some of the fairways were longer than what I would expect the first cut of rough to be.
Good mix of holes
Good mix of holes. Some absolutely stunning and a couple that are very weak. It’s an enjoyable experience to play although the greens were very poor on the day.
A lovely course with fabulous views
Great course and the views are sensational. The layout is interesting and varied too and I feel the reviews that criticise the holes over the railway are unjust as is still a nice set of holes with good tests. The only downside is as other golfers have noted the greens are not pure. They were veryvery sandy and quite bumpy so hard to get a god rub on. All in though a lovely day on a beautiful course.
Fantastic course
Brilliant course, different hole and lots of challenges. Stunning views. The greens were a little bit bobbly, but I think they had just been sanded and fertilised. Friendly staff in the pro shop.
Seaview Course
Fantastic lay-out, close to the sea, Wide, long and some forgiving fairways. Daring golfcourse which gives one plenty to exercise. Always nice to return to during my regular visits to Cornwall.
Amazing!
Definitely recommend this course to anyone! Great for you big hitters and difficult big greens, so definitely worth practicing your putting before hand. But aside from that, the course is beautifully designed, with the coast mostly on your right and seeing out into the English Channel - it would be amazing to see during summer - but even playing in the winter, yes some parts have retained a bit of water (but what course doesn’t) but in general, I loved it. And next time I am down this area, I’ll be sure to play again.
