Lexden Wood Golf Club - 18-hole Course

This course is like playing different courses all in one round. It’s a long walk so a buggy is a good idea. You cross under a railway cross under the A12. Good challenge well maintained. Good deals in GolfNow.

Lexden is one of the closest courses to me and so tried it out in the past before it was taken over by new owners. Previously the greens were awful and the course wasn’t well maintained. Having waited for a few months to go by, and the new owners to really get stuck in, I can confidently say that their hard work paid off. The greens, while a little slow, are in lovely condition despite all the hot weather, and the overall course condition and challenge of play has improved considerably. Really enjoyed my round, and wanted to share this so others who previously may have been put off will give it another shot. You won’t be disappointed

The time I played the course was 3 years ago and was a great course, now it's been taken over the course is even better, there are some area that are missing does not not have a pro shop so had to go back out a few miles for some gear, and the buggies now are run with a gps which stop you following some paths and needs to be changed as it not welcoming when trying to play golf. Think I expected slightly more after recent reviews. Greens were in good condition and overall course was good. Fairways looked om but some were already very dry. Tee boxes were also very dry. Some old bunkers have been left and are alm GUR, not sure if these are going to refurbed like the rest. Will definitely play again this year and see how its coming along. Plenty of other decent courses in the £35-40 range for a mid afternoon round. Worth a try

Much improved in 2026, last played mid 2025. The greens were very good compared to last visit and the bunkers had all been re- faced one a nice depth of fresh sand. Played after a very wet spell of weather so parts of the course were a bit squelchy. Will look forward to playing here later in the year. Only negatives I had was no proper golf shop and the place didn’t accept cash.

First time playing the course, beautiful day played some great golf shots and that was it for positive things. Range balls were expensive considering all Trackman displays were not working. On arrival no signed to the Pro shop, bar staff checked me in & gave me a scorecard with range ball voucher. No information about the conditions of the course. Like lots of mud on fairways, all artificial Tee boxes playing from Red markers only. No 150yrd markers or Centre fairway posts, multiple blind tee shots. Long muddy walks, some holes should of been closed.

I used to be a member but left after the state Concept Golf let it run in to. Today, wow. Much improved. Some of the best conditioned bunkers around and the greens were mostly in excellent condition. A great improvement. Also, have to commend the staff for the efforts they went to in keeping the course open. Additional pathways had been opened and when many clubs have closed, you can see the effort they have gone to to keep the course operating. Will definitely play there again soon. The new owners have done a great job so far.

The course is in good condition for thistime of year. Its good to see this course being looked after.

Temporary greens with no effort to do anything other than put a hole and a flag no rolling or grass cutting what so ever

Some good improvements to the course since new ownership which is commendable. I had issue with wet outfield and water logging previously. This time around thankfully there was no water logging but at few places the ground was quite wet and slushy. Hopefully this will be addressed going forward.

This course is fairly local to me but after playing it a couple of years ago, the greens were awful, the bunkers full of weeds, fairways not cut I was reluctant to return this year. However, I played earlier this year and could see the improvements being made and in my most recent visit it's all coming to fruition. They done excellent work with the course. Good bunkers, good greens, fairways well kept and new cart paths. I really enjoyed it.

Not the best greeting when we arrived. Not the best start. Car park is far too small for what they offer as a whole. Tee boxes were either long grass or nothing and very uneven. The fairways were good for this time of year and the greens were ok too.

Not great signage on the course to indicate what way to go to the next whole. Kind of a guessing game.

Can see the course is being developed but I wouldn’t say it was worth the money I paid for the round.

A lot better than the last time I played, here and can see work is starting to be done on the course which had been neglected previously. .No hold ups and the staff very friendly.

Played again this weekend. Greens , fairways, bunkers in great condition. Tee boxes you can see work is ongoing but does not affect your round. Great breakfast after enjoyed by all 4 of us. Nice you can use range so close to first tee. New buggies are cool as well .

Played this course a long time ago fairway were ok second cut was bad could never find your ball if you went into it as I did many a time this was my second vist brought my son along we had a good round bunkers are a lot better as well as the greens will be back again soon
