Golfer Reviews
Milton Abbey Golf
We love playing here as the course is never busy so we can play without feeling rushed. The greens were good except there was a dog poo on the edge of the swings green yesterday which was not the greatest. Also, a posse of children came out to play rolyooly down the hill at around 11.30 which was quite a distraction. As kindly as we could we warned them to be vigilant when we were playing the 8th and 9th but I think it frightened the emmiff - not our intention at all. However it didn’t completely break my concentration and I lucked up the next few shots. Entirely my problem!! If I could add one facility to this course it would be access to a loo - I think we used the cricket pavilion once but this ought to be something that is offered or advertised. We felt like we might be trespassing. Love the course though and will revisit as often as we can.
So quaint, secluded and picturesque.
This is the second time I have played this course, the week before was she first and I was so impressed I just had to come back for a second round before it closed for term time. It a really nice but challenging course and in great condition, so hats off to the groundsmen. It’s a beautiful backdrop to play golf against and very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend if you are looking for something different.
Beautiful compact challenge
The course looks simple on the map, but there’s some tricky slopes to negotiate on several of the holes. Big hitters may be stifled by the brevity of some holes and short game is what matters here. Beautifully maintained surroundings and an Abbey to visit as a post game treat. Decent pubs around, too!
Wedding setup stopped full 9 holes
I love this cousre, the staff maintain it perfectly, however was not informed at time of booking they had set up for what I presume was a wedding on the 9th fairway, 8th was unplayable also as edge of 9th sometimes comes into play. Would have been nice at time of booking only 7/8 holes were playable.
Quirky course
The course sits around the Milton Abbey which is gorgeous. There is no staff anywhere and you basically figure the course out. Problem is there is limited signage so your guessing what tee is next a lot which gets old. For $15 what can you expect, but it’s a chance to walk and get some exercise. Greens were ok as well.
Improved
The staff have done an amazing job . The best condition it has been in.
Brian Dunn
Great little course in a beautiful setting. The greens are small and some short holes but great fun. Will definitely go again, good for improving your accuracy and short game.
Great 9 hole course
It was our first time playing the course. We found the course to be in good condition, some challenging holes in a beautiful setting. My daughter attends Milton Abbey, so it was nice to play there. If anyone is looking for a few hours of golf in the amazing Dorset countryside then I would highly recommend this short but great 9-hole course. We will be back!
Unique course
Beautiful surroundings to the course in the grounds of the school, as long as you have booked on GolfNow you literally just turn up and tee off, there is no clubhouse or starter. No toilets or facilities that we saw for golfers. On several holes there were people sunbathing or sitting on greens/fairways seemingly oblivious to the fact the golf course was being used by multiple people. Overall nice little course good for a quick round, no par 5s but some challenging par 3s in there. A couple of the holes do cross over each other so pace of play could be slower if busy.
Tidy school golf course
A tidy course which is undergoing tee maintenance, challenging group of par 3 holes mid round. I was unable to locate any washroom facilities and the course at one point had visitors enjoying the sun sitting on fairways. Overall an enjoyable 9 holes course.
A great little course
Trickier than you would imagine for a short 9, lots of ups and downs and really tests your short game... slopes approaching tees demands accuracy which unfortunately is in short supply with my skill but thoroughly enjoyable and I will be back as often as possible!!!
What a little gem
It’s a lovely cause some people might find it a bit unorthodox as it is a bit confusing to start off with because the number of teas are numbered so you really have to look at the course map but it’s very lovely course
Beautiful setting
Always a pleasure to play at MA . A tricky 3 holes in the trees. And two tricky drives on the 7th and 8th. Well done to the grounds team as always.
Milton Abbey golf course
Beautiful surroundings and a lovely golf course. I have played over the year on this course and so glad it has opened again and the GN app works brilliantly.
I think it's good value for money, for the lovely course it is (although professionals might miss the opportunity of a par 5).
I look forward to the next time I can play there, thank you for keeping the course in such pristine condition and I can only hope that the Golf Now new booking system has been a hugh success.
I would also like to ask if the opportunity arose, that the 3 grass tennis courts might be available to book as part of a potential Golf and Tennis club? I have played quite a bit of golf over the summer at Milton abbey and note the courts never being used.
10/10 from us and thanks again for keeping this course open to the public. SO enjoyed and appreciated! best wishes, hal cazalet
Great little course
Really enjoyed it. Short course and not easy to navigate first time around. But immaculately maintained and great challenge, especially for short game.
