Bulbury Woods Golf Club

I have played this course before on a previous golf trip to Bournemouth and it was lovely so we decided to play it again.

I want to stress that when this course is open with no work being carried out it is a delight. The staff are super friendly and helpful as they were today. A really tight and challenging course.

Unfortunately the course on this occasion, on full green fees, was a very frustrating and disappointing. The lovely gent in the pro shop advised us that Hole 1 and 2 were temporary greens just before we teed of at 07-08 am. Not an ideal start. Holes 3 and 4 had undergone hollow tining and hadn’t been cleared so you had to putt through all the sand. Again, not ideal. Holes 5-9 were great and we thought we will look past the first 4 holes and play good golf.

We go to the 10th tee box and they were working on the green so another temporary green! We just walked through to the 11th and played the hole. We then played 12 and when we got to the green, again it had been hollow tined and was full of sand.We could also see that they were busy hollow tining the 14th and another temporary green was in place.

At that point we walked back to the club house. My brother let the pro shop now that we were leaving and that the experience had been very dissapointing. We had travelled 2 and a half hours to play 2 other courses on the Monday and this on the Tuesday before travelling home. A very flat end to to a couple of days of Dorset golf

Tree line course which relies on straight rather than long hits,,the greens are the real protection.No driving range but there is a couple of nets

It was maintenance week so we knew the course wasn’t going to be in ideal condition but at times it was completely unplayable. Some of the greens that were open were impossible to putt on and it was very wet and boggy. In all honesty it should have been closed as it was unplayable on certain holes

Very wet conditions underfoot so had to carry the cart bag which was not ideal. The chap in the club house wanted to call us but Golf Now don't pass on personal information which needs to be addressed somehow. Generally seems to be somewhere to avoid in the winter after any amount of rain unfortunately. The layout is good for all levels of golfer as always keep it straight off the tee!

Great coarse. I’m a beginner and it was challenging but very enjoyable.

The staff from the pro shop to the bar staff were very friendly and very helpful.

Very accommodating and helpful staff brought forward my tee time for my convenience. Course played well the fairways were quite firm, the greens were excellent true and quite fast. Overall a very pleasant course to play.

Great tricky coarse. Unfortunately wet and soft in places but overall a good day. Good club house.

Would definitely play there again

Bulbury Woods is one of my favourite courses in Dorset. The greens are near perfect and offer a great challenge for all golfing abilities. They are faster paced than most around but extremely well kept and enjoyable to play on. The course has that ‘proper course’ feel to it with many holes lined by 40ft for trees offering a narrow target and good course management. Staff are always very friendly and a club for all abilities. The clubhouse is very spacious with outdoor seating and a balcony style outdoor area overlooking the 18th. I look to play here whenever I can as with a hot deal or twilight booking it’s an absolute steal. I would genuinely consider a membership here if I lived slightly closer.

As something of a newbie it was a pleasant surprise that this course was so good, I booked a single and was paired with some member who were really nice and helpful

Extremely welcoming club with well kept course, greens and clubhouse. The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent.

Me and a friend from out of town had a great time at bulbury woods golf course last weekend. We booked on at short notice at a very good rate! Well worth the money! For the same in short, the course is the same price as somewhere like Queens park or Meyrick park but twice as good. Loads better value for money. Had a great time. Would 100% okay again and recommend to anyone.
