Getting There
New ownership at Granada Farms is really working to make this a great place to play. Working on a few tee boxes, but the greens were in great condition for the price and the fairways weren’t too bad at all. Looking forward to playing here again and seeing the progress of the course.
Give this one a chance!
I was hesitant to book this course based on some previous reviews. Newer reviews said it was under new ownership so I decided to give it a try. The greens and fairways were in great shape. Bunkers definitely still need some attention. Give this ownership group another 6 months or so and it will be a really good course.
New Granada Farms
I understand that the course was purchased by the owners of Players Ridge in Hickory. The greens are in the best shape I've seen and they are working on the fairways. Once this course is complete it will be one of the best courses in our area.
70% great, 3 bad holes to rework
It's improving nicely, but still has a bad t box on #2, and needs holes 15 and 16 retooled. It would then be a great overall course with some challenging holes and amazing views. A good value and new ownership with changes happening this month. The rest of the course is worth playing, but watch out on the 12th fairway as your 2nd shot will roll left big-time...
Don’t Use GolfNow for this course
I booked on GolfNow and paid con. fee just to get to the course and be told they do not use GolfNow and charged more than what was listed on GN. When we got there we had to wait for the staff to bring the carts. Sprinklers were getting turned on for the greens for the holes we were about to tee off on. Had to skip a green because of the sprinklers. If you play this course don’t expect much and don’t book on GN.
COURSE IS UNDER REPAIR. SHOULD BE NICE WHEN COMPLETED. UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP..ENJOYED THE COURSE LAYOUT.
Coming Around
Though still kinda rough this course has come back from ruin. Lots of money has been spent including new GPS carts. The greens for March are in decent shape but in a month they should be in better shape. The amount of work required to get this course back to playable was enormous and I think they have got off to a good start. Keep up the good work and they will come. Group Golfer would be a great way for this course to create some revenue to keep improving. A fun course to play.
Poor conditions
Course Is in really bad shape. Cart paths bad. Several tee boxes were non existent along with bunkers.
Coming along
They have been really working hard to get this course back in shape. Really has come a long way! Great work!
Good and getting better!
I played this course many times over 20 years before it unfortunately started to be in unplayable conditions. I’m glad to see it has reopened because it’s such a fun yet challenging course. The fairways are in good shape, and many of the cart paths have been repaved which is nice because they have new carts with gps. Some construction is still going on with tee boxes and sand traps, and some greens need a little more time to fully fill in. Overall, it’s a hidden gem that will get back to its old glory in 2024!
I don’t even know
Course is drastically improving, but 5 groups on one hole is awful. I don’t know if the pro shop is letting people go whenever or what, but if people would let you through or try and play faster it’d be better
Good course for a quick round
Wasn’t sure I was going to be able to play this weekend, but Sunday morning I had everything done, so decided to see if I could get a tee time in the afternoon. Called Granada, because I remembered it was fairly cheap, close-ish, and had a decent layout. Sure enough, I got the time I was after within 10 minutes.
I’d played this course about a year ago, so I wasn’t expecting excellent conditions. The green fee, with cart, was $40 the lady in the pro shop had said, but I decided before I went that I wanted to walk if possible. When I got to the course, the walking green fee was only $20, great! She was a little hesitant to let me go out before 2:30 walking, thinking it would slow play for the groups behind, but there were 2 3-balls going off ahead and I assured her that I would easily be able to keep up and I’d let groups behind pass if I couldn’t. As I suspected, that wasn’t an issue.
Compared to the last time I played here, the greens were generally in much better condition, with the exception of a few on the back that get more shade and had some bare spots. It ain’t Augusta, but it was playable. They’ve repaved a number of the cart paths that were horribly broken up last time. As far as walkability, it’s hilly and I knew that going in. The front 9 isn’t that bad at all. I’d forgotten about the back 9, though. There you’ll find several holes in a row with steep elevation changes, mostly up, and it’s a workout. Made it around in just under 3:30, though. Despite the 2 3-balls ahead playing as a 6-ball on the front 9, I had the back all to myself. Overall, a very enjoyable round of pure, no frills golf.
New ownership! New course!
Greens have been closed since October but will reopen next month and they’ll be rolling smooth! This was a diamond in the rough that isn’t so rough anymore. Can’t tell you all the upgrades that have made this a true country club again with an amazing course!
