About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Decent
I wasn’t expecting a 4 hour and 45 minute round teeing off at 11:30 on a Tuesday, miserable. Grounds were well kept and layout could have been fun. Starter and beverage cart would have been complimented by a marshal regulating pace of play.
Course was in excellent condition
Course was in excellent condition given the fact that it was soggy from a week of rain, friendly staff, excellent golf carts.
Only negative was the pace of play could have been enforced by the ranger and wasn't. Cart said we were 13 minutes ahead the entire time, but a 3some time was 4 hours 26 minutes as the 3rd group on the course.
Slow as usual
A great course. Not used to 4.5 - 5 hour rounds, but it’s summer, and a lot of people play here because of the quality of the course.
I'm Coming Back
Really outstanding course. We were in Wilmington NC for a couples vacation. We played several that were open to out of town guest. This was by far exceptional and I hope we will get to play for 5days straight when we come back.. This course stood out because of its "got it together " presence and reasonable cost. So, we will be back.
A Staple
We vacation at Wrightsville Beach for over the past 25+ years and we found 15 years ago and its always a must play while we are here! Playing it again o. FRIDAY
Slow as usual
Summer play here is always slow. Four and a half hours. Used to playing much quicker, but the course is in great shape as always
Sandy Greens
Greens were sanded in the middle of our round. Ball would not roll without bouncing left and right on small stones. For the price this should not happen.
Great experience
After a less than satisfactory experience at Beau Rivage, CBCC was a breath of fresh air, staff, welcome, facilities, layout, all well worth the drive. Thanks CBCC
Interesting Option
Not many links style options around, so this was interesting and fun. The course is challenging, especially the back 9. Greens were very slow, but in this heat, that should be expected. Except for the tees, the course was in good condition. Moderately good practice facilities. I’m sure I will play this course again.

I enjoy playing different courses but I'd like to get back to this one next time.I'm in town. The staff was extremely friendly. The bar area is cool and large with great prices. Granted keeping conditions perfect are tough in the mid summer heat but really in good shape. Fun layout and day for our group.
