About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Tony
I booked a 3:24 time. The 3:18 was a 3some and Tony asked if I wanted to play with them and I said OK. Tony then told me to leave my cart and join this other single. I explained that I wanted and payed for my cart and he insisted that I join the single . I told him I would wait for my 3:24 tee time which online said I was to join a 2some and could be in my own cart. When I went to tee off Tony said he gave me a chance and now there was a party of 12 ahead of me. I went to enjoy a nice golf game and Tony destroyed my day. I was told I only paid for a seat not a cart. I would have flat paid another cart fee but that wasn’t an option. I don’t think is is right to force people that don’t know each other to drive in the same cart. Thanks Tony
Castle Bay
The course conditions were fantastic, case of play was really good, staff was very friendly, but the amenities were closed before we even got to the turn before five. Couldn’t get any kind of solid food or cocktails on a holiday Saturday.

Great first time at Castle Bay today. Country club feel with all the amenities and a great track.

Solid course
Well taken care of greens and fairways. Nice pro shop and restaurant. First time there and a pretty good weekend rate through GolfNow.
Plays slow
5.5 hrs to play. 3 groups on 18th hole and skipped that one. Course is nice. Rangers need to be more firm with slow golfers
Nice Layout, Friendly Staff
I've played Castle Bay a number of times now. It's well worth it if you're in the area
Well maintained
After a storm yesterday, the fairway was soggy in some area. In spite of the wet condition, the green was dry and rolling well
Castle Bay 6/2/25
Staff were friendly at check-in and got a rate better than expected. Range balls were included. Paired with three other golfers, all of whom were excellent to play with. Pace was very good, overall very good experience.

Enjoyed the round and the playing partners. The four of us had never met. Course played as expected and pace of play was good. Course is open and thus good for a wide range of abilities. Would definitely recommend, a great bargain for seniors.
Great course great staff
Visiting from New York and i booked last minute and it was a delight. Course in great shape and Mr Caster in the pro shop was so kind and friendly. Can't speak highly enough of the course and my experience.
Castle Bay Hampstead Must Play
Castle Bay is a solid track and one of my favorites to play in the Hampstead area. The starters and mostly friendly although sometimes require two in a cart and sometimes clearly not. This was strange. Overall fun.
The Bay is in great shape!
Long time customer and Castle Bay is probably in the best shape it's been in a long time. Some tee boxes are not perfect but overall the course is very enjoyable. Some of my playing partners commented negatively about the permanent "alternate" hole locations but they don't bother me...
