About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Pace of play
Marshals/Rangers need to be out on the course ACTIVELY pushing the pace of play. No excuse for a 4 hr 40 min round..
the reminders on the screens in the cart are ineffective.
8 minute tee times contribute to the slow play.
Great course slow pace
Thought the course was in great shape. Layout was interesting.
The pace of play was horrible. 5 hour round. Should have been marshaled.
Bad day to play castle Bay
I’ve played castle bay before and it’s usually good, today was horrible. They over booked, had no golf carts available at our tee time, and we start almost 20 mins late. I booked on tee off, and had to put money down for a deposit, they couldn’t see that and tried to charge me full price, and the pace was super slow. If this was my first experience I would never return, but I know this is was a one off, still a bad day at castle bay.
Course in decent shape
Tee boxes need work but course overall was good. Had a group with three carts in front of us causing slow play all day.
The Castle
People travel 30+ miles to play this course because it is a real test. Thete is need for a complete game to score well.
Too bad it was a rain day
Would love to play again. Challenging but fair. Greens were sandy but rolled nice at a good pace.
Great layout
Course in great shape especially fairways Greens roll true. Staff awesome.

Course and greens were in fantastic condition. Great pace of play. Love this course and try to play whenever I’m in Hampstead.
