About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Yesterday’s round
Course is enjoyable yet very dry greens were inconsistent and the pace of play was very slow

Definitely a course worth playing. Excellent links layout. Rewarded for your accuracy and penalized for your mistakes. Will absolutely be making another visit(s) to those course again.
A beautiful golf day at Castle Bay
Weather was in the lower 70’s most of the round. The course is challenging and has some tight fairways with a fair amount of water. The course was a little dry in the fairways and greens, but that’s probably expected this time of year in NC. We got paired up with another twosome that fortunately had played the course before. There knowledge of the hazards and distances was very helpful. Overall enjoyable experience. We will plan to it again.
Good 4 the money
Nice course. Liked the links style layout. Course conditions were okay. Overall a good experience. Will play it again .
Nice course, Slow play.
The pace was very slow. Course is nice but these slow foursomes need to pick up the move faster.
Hard ground
The ground was very hard and fast I don’t know if that has to do with the drought we have been experiencing or what but all of the fairways and greens were very fast
Castle Bay first timer
Tee boxes and greens in great shape, fairways good but show lack of rain in some areas. However I witnessed the grounds keepers working hard to correct. Will come back again later this year.
Felt like a King at this Castle
Layout was great, local knowledge comes onto play with the hazards on some holes. Wind 5-15 mph makes you reavaluate your club selection on most holes. Most greans slope from back to front so when you hit the green in general you stay on the putting surface..Driveable 18th will make your day if played correctly. Cheers

Beautiful weather, course in nice shape, greens were a little slower than what I’ve experienced here in the past. Overall this is a very fun course to play and I would highly recommend it!
Great course with good forgiving play
I love this course as it presents some nice challenges and has forgiving play but keep an eye on your ball once it settles since the off fairway grasses do make it difficult to find your ball
