About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Great Course Terrible Management
Allowed a group of 7 to play ahead of My group of two on a Sunday. Ended up taking 5 hours and 15 minutes for two people to ride 18 holes. Completely unacceptable will not be back.
Love this course. Rain the night before made it soggy but that’s Mother Nature
Wet
Had the first tee time. Course was extremely wet due to dew and heavy watering if fairways throughout the night. Hard to find ball in the fairway due to water. I liked the course on my previous round but learned not to play this course early in morning.
Course and staff were a pleasure as usual. I played like crap.
Great course
Great conditions and a very cool course. Not too long and gives a lot of good opportunities for good shots when you play from the right tees. I really thought it was great!
Fun Course!
Fun course layout in great condition. Enjoyed playing a links course that is fair but still challenging.
Concur with consensus
Nice layout with some challenging shots. Greens were in great shape, fairways get really good roll. Rough will eat your ball... club up.
Worth the money, meh?!
This course has great greens and a terrific layout. Unfortunately, the pace of play was ridiculously slow! I was with another two-some who dropped off after 9 holes. This left me sandwiched between a 3-some and a 4-some for 8 holes (2.5 hours). The group ahead playrd from 3 different tee boxes,badly and would not ever me through, even though there was an open hole ahead of them. I caked for the Marshall who showed up on bike 17.
The pace of play absolutely ruined my game and sullied my review of what could have been a great day of golf at this course.
Overall, the price does not match quality of the course.
