Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden
About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

Needs Work
We played here last year in August and it was in better shape then than it it’s now and was cheaper. After we paid the full price of $35 was when we were told one hole was closed and two holes had temporary greens. (It was really three hole). Started on the back 9 and greens were in ok shape even the holes that were closed those greens looked better that holes that were open. Front nine greens were completely different than back. It was like we were playing a completely different course. They needed to be cut and were fuzzy where the back nine had been cut and rolled. I understand they are trying to fix this place up and I look forward to playing there when they are done with it. But charging full price for a course that was in that shape is crazy.
Course is in Rough Shape
Course is in rough shape at the moment. Looks like they are doing work on greens/fairways to better the course in the long run but it is a struggle at the moment. Temp greens on a few of the holes as well. One of my favorite courses to play when it is in decent shape, so will definitely be back, but not for a while.
Course should not be open
Terrible terrible terrible and it’s not advertised that half the holes have temporary green on grass so the fact that they are charging regular price for that pasture should be ilegal. They only had a sign saying hole 8 was closed. The whole place is terrible.
Avoid at all cost
Booked it through GolfNow and nowhere on the booking did it say that the course is in horrible condition there are multiple holes that have temporary (3 just on the back) greens on the grass. The sign at the check-in desk said hole number 8 closed so start on number 10. One would assume that the rest of the course would be OK other than that one whole but that’s not the case. It’s a cow pasture, and there is not one green that’s in good shape. If they advertised it, it would be OK but they should not be charging what are charging to play in those conditions.
It’s getting there!
They’ve been working on the irrigation and fixing up the course. A couple of greens were closed but I’d say next year this is going to be one of the better courses around for the price. Shaka Taco is amazing and a great way to end a round!
Great Golf Experience
Have watched this group steadily improve the course and amenities since they opened. Work in progress, but they are doing a great job of brining a fun golfing experience to the area. Highly recommend the course for a fun day.
Work in progress
This is a very nice layout. Tees, fairways and bunkers in very good condition. Greens are a little bumpy and there were 3 temporary greens. New irrigation is currently being installed. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed playing and will be back. New owners and crew are doing a fantastic job!
Mixed Review
The course layout is challenging and imaginative. The course upkeep has been neglected. We played several temporary greens and several others were bald, sandy, or both.
The course needs investment and a better groundskeeper.
New Owners working diligently to upgrade course, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
Working hard to upgrade course the pricing reflects that and happy they are, could have sold land to developer.
Well that was a waste
Got there and checked in and was informed that hole 6 was closed. Then they sent us off on the back 9 for no reason. Found out after playing a couple holes that there was multiple holes that had temporary greens. Green s we’re in poor shape large sand areas on a lot of the greens. We get to the 5 hole and there is people working in the fairway on water lines.
I’d only recommend this course for beginners who don’t practice putting. Very open course, but the greens were as thick as the rough and were very poorly tended. Barely any hazards, and you’ll find yourself driving next to cars getting from hole to hole. The tee boxes were also basically cement. The only thing saving this course was it cost me only $20 for 9 including a cart.
Decent value
Greens were being worked on, so temporary greens were in play. Should be a different experience when the greens are back in shape.
Ironclad
As novice players, we enjoyed this course. Good opportunity to use multiple clubs. Not busy so no pressure from behind. Enjoyed a beer after the round in the beer garden area, watched the corn hole games.
It is what it is
The course has a decent layout but the greens are awful and 60% bare on 7 of the first 9 holes. They just laid irrigaton pipes but yet to use them. fairways were all weeds and entire course needs to be cut. if this wasnt also a brewery and a taco bar, the golf wouldnt sustain in unfortunatley
Ironclad June 19,2023
The staff was super friendly. The course had the front 9 closed down for repair. We played the back 9 and 4 greens were unplayable bc of repair needed and they had temporary greens on those. The layout was fun. Very easy to score. Very fair and open. If the greens would be open and fixed, this will be a very fun course to play. Shaka Taco was on site and amazing food. For the weekend golfer. It’s worth the money to play golf at the beach.
