Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden
About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

I’d only recommend this course for beginners who don’t practice putting. Very open course, but the greens were as thick as the rough and were very poorly tended. Barely any hazards, and you’ll find yourself driving next to cars getting from hole to hole. The tee boxes were also basically cement. The only thing saving this course was it cost me only $20 for 9 including a cart.
Decent value
Greens were being worked on, so temporary greens were in play. Should be a different experience when the greens are back in shape.
Ironclad
As novice players, we enjoyed this course. Good opportunity to use multiple clubs. Not busy so no pressure from behind. Enjoyed a beer after the round in the beer garden area, watched the corn hole games.
It is what it is
The course has a decent layout but the greens are awful and 60% bare on 7 of the first 9 holes. They just laid irrigaton pipes but yet to use them. fairways were all weeds and entire course needs to be cut. if this wasnt also a brewery and a taco bar, the golf wouldnt sustain in unfortunatley

The staff was super friendly. The course had the front 9 closed down for repair. We played the back 9 and 4 greens were unplayable bc of repair needed and they had temporary greens on those. The layout was fun. Very easy to score. Very fair and open. If the greens would be open and fixed, this will be a very fun course to play. Shaka Taco was on site and amazing food. For the weekend golfer. It’s worth the money to play golf at the beach.
Fun Track
This course was a blast to play…the staff is amazing, great energy for a golf club….course conditions are getting better thanks to new owner whose investing serious money for improvements…highly recommend
Progress
Owners working to restore course, patience required, have to break few eggs to make an omelette. Slow but steady progress, much better than selling property for more Apts.
Rebuild
Putting lot of work into corse it will take time but there working on it.
Fairways were in good shape but greens have seen better days. Biggest issue was pace of play, waited 15 minutes to tee off by hole 8.
Good time
I guess NC had some bad frost that has hurt some of the greens. They are working on getting the course back in shape. If you’re looking for a Pro golf course, this is not it. If you looking for a good time, friendly people and a ok golf course this is it. Had a good and would go back in a minute.
Holy Smokes!
This place is just getting started on being one of the most elite courses in SENC. You heard it here first, but you will hear it again many other places!
Good value/greens need work
Ironclad is good value for your money. They are making good improvements to the course, greens really need improving. Amenities are very good.
