Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

HIghly Recommended

To be fair, its not the most challenging course you going to play, but its fun - decent par 3s, and some other holes requiring shaping, Greens were great - pacey and holding and absolutely worth the inexpensive fees.

But its the freindlienss of EVERYONE that was great, from check in girl, staff, members and other players.. really nice and no egos.. and to finish off with Shaka Taco at the course !!! AMAZING

perfect for those 12+ handicaps

Treacherous greens

Had a beautiful day to play golf in January.

Winter golf equals tight lies and fast greens.

The pin positions were very difficult on many holes.

On these holes if you missed your first putt, you would probably end up further from the hole than you started..

Always fun to be playing golf with friends

Iron Clad is a fun course that offers golf, cold craft beer and now a Shaka Tacos restaurant.

The course layout is good and the challenge can be changed by switching tee boxes.

The putting greens are getting better but still have a ways to go.

The elevated greens are a different challenge than many other local courses.

The owners /management are continuing to improve their product.

Huge Improvement - great progress

Full disclosure, this course is a work in progress, so set your expectations appropriately. I really like the course layout, and it is an amazing value for the money. They seem to be doing a ton of work to improve the course and facilities. The course conditions were pretty good other than a couple of greens with bare spots. Looks like they are about to install irrigation which will help a ton.

Cons - the bathrooms need serious work and some water on the course would be appreciated.

Work in progress

Looks like they are working on the course.

We played using a Golf Now discount which made it a good value. Course not in good enough shape to pay full price. Some greens have bald spots. No water on the entire course

Iron Clad

We had a great time golfing here. The course is under repair and the advances are noticeable. Fun course to golf and it will be a great course once all the improvements are made.

Ok

The Course is ok best. The tee boxes and greens are always just abysmal. The layout is fun, and there are some challenging holes in terms of course management. It's a fun course to play, but it never seems to get any better regarding the upkeep. They are still reasonably new, so I try to give a little slack. However, in nearly a year, there hasn't been a marked improvement.

WORK IN PROGRESS!

This used to be the old Belvedere Golf Course. Course had been run down. New owners (2-3 years?) are investing a ton of money upgrading the facilities. It's only a matter of time before this will be a 'happening' place-with great amenities-i.e. beer garden and a full service restaurant! Those should be online by the end of 2022, or early 2023. Down the road a clubhouse/pro shop and great golfing conditions will come-probably at least a year or two off-but it will be a real gem for the Hampstead area.
