Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

Laid back....

Loved this course, laid back chill vibe. This course is perfect for the mid to high handicapper. Not super long with wide fairways. Greens are on the slow side which favors your average golfers. If you are a scratch golfer that prefers the country club vibe this course is probably not for you. But if you prefer a cold beer and a chilled vibe this course is for you. I see tons of potential as current management is bringing this course back to life. I will definitely return soon....

Course is great value for the cost

I had a great time at the course, the price is very reasonable and for 30 bucks I was able to get in a good amount of practice with my buddies. For those who are into casual golf and don't need a top of the line course (that also takes hundreds of dollars to play on), I recommend this place.

Give it a try!!!

Got this course on a hot deal and was wellllll worth the money. Few areas that they are working on but I thought it was 10/10 for the price. I shot a 92 so I’m no pro, but it was a good mix of fun and challenge

Always improving

I’ve been playing ironclad since they took on the project of restoring the course/facilities and while it’s not perfect the condition improves with every visit. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for an everyday golfing experience with your friends this is the place.

Casual golf

This course needs some TLC. Tees on the front 9 are in serious need of water and seed. Some of the greens need attention. Having said that, for a casual round of golf it was okay. I will play it again.

Work in progress

I use to live in Hampstead. While visiting this time I was curious of the new Ironclad takeover. My firat impression was that they are tryn hard to tailor the experience to young families. It was nice to see they cleaned up the tennis courts. I was a little surprised they filled in the pool.

Regarding the golf course. Lots of work needed. My guess once they finish the projects around clubhouse then the course will get attention. I think in 2023 maybe I’ll check back to see if that happens. Its worth a look

Bang for your buck

Really liked this course, first time out! Cheaper than other courses in the area and it can show, but not in a bad way! Driving range is mostly sand. The roughs can br quite rough, but if you're in the fairway it's a great time. Good mix of shot shapes. Pace of play was a little rough. In my particular round, we got rained out and barely finished 9 holes, we did get a raincheck. Very friendly staff.
