Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club

My friend from N. J. told me it was the best course he ever played at. We even enjoyed contributing balls to the pond on 11. It tricks you! It was a very enjoyable course and we apologize for the broken windows! LOL

Unusual lay out with 6 par 3 holes and 5 par 5 holes. Beautiful views and good playing conditions.

The course layout is fun and interesting with 6 par 3's and 5 par 5's. Greens were a little firm, but in good condition and quick. Beautiful course with great views.

I played this mountainous layout for the first time from the cart paths only which means I attempted shots with the wrong club because the right one was across the fairway in the cart. You know the drill!

Electric carts are new with GPS. Nice! Water, restrooms, etc. are as expected on a high-end course like this one.

All the usual hazards are in play. None should bother an experienced golfer playing from the proper tees. Our threesome agreed to not play from the bunkers because they were solid hardpan -- obviously flooded out and eroded from recent heavy rains. Rough is Bermuda -- stay on the fairway or you'll be sorry.

The best hint I can offer is to choose one club longer when in doubt. I did, and it worked out on all but one hole -- a very short, steep uphill par three that I overshot. The course plays long.

Played this course of the way to Charlotte for the PGA.

I was looking for a nice mountain course with a lot of great views of the mountains. The back nine gave us just that. The course is in great condition and has very unique and fun holes. It can be a little challenging, but not that bad for an average player. I would play it again and may do so on my way back to Kentucky.

Cummings Cove was in excellent shape, fairways great and greens better than average. We have not played there is several months but the conditions were the best we've seen in years.

This is a strategic course that requires some thinking. Probably not ideal for a beginner or someone who likes to pound the driver off the tee. I didn't hit driver until the 9th hole and only five times on the day. There is a good bit of trouble on most holes and errant shots can be easily lost. It has some spectacular mountain views, particularly on the back nine.

A good value on a weekend afternoon and good conditions for the price.

Good test of golf--I would not recommend it for 15+ handicaps. Overall, the course was in great shape. The scenery was outstanding!

Very challenging course and in very good condition. It looks like they airiated about a week ago but greens still in great shape.

This course has beautiful Mountain view and well taken care of fairway. Cart has gps system that show court and yard to green. This course is one of the best public golf course I have been played in Asheville area.

Tight layout. Enjoyed thinking my way around this course. The greens were atrocious and barely playable due to recent arification. I was warned but told they were "puttable". They were definitely not.

The greens were aerated so putting wasn't very easy.other than that great shape.

Beautiful course, challenging but fun to play. The staff was great and I got a lot of help from Pete, the Starter. This course was my 45th State in my quest to play in all 50 States. I was very impressed with Cummings Cove Country Club.

A really nice course nestled in the mountains of NC.

The course has improved since last fall - when it was truly bad. There's grass now and it appears they have made an effort to address drainage issues.

We've had a mild winter in Western NC, so most courses have been able to begin spring maintenance a little earlier. We were not aware that the greens had been "sanded" until we arrived. According to a local who lives on the course, they have been most successful in "over sanding" the greens. In this particular case, it was tantamount to putting in a sand trap; the sand was thick and wet and as a result, generally a waste of money.

Cummings cove is a genuinely nice course, somewhat challenging and the redesign of the back nine has been a great improvement. Perhaps it's best to wait a week or so for the sand to settle; I recommend that you play the course - just not until the greens are playable.
