Lincoln Country Club

About
Lincoln Country Club has a scenic landscape of hardwood forests and meandering creeks. Although it might not seem like anything special on first glance, the golf course is actually one of the area's hidden gems. The traditional design has a surprisingly formidable test. The challenging golf course has a front nine with tree-lined fairways and small greens that demand accuracy. While the back nine is more open, it's no less challenging. Shot placement will still be an important factor when maneuvering the greens. Ponds and creeks come into play throughout and there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along many of the greensides. The Lincoln Country Club golf course finishes with a tough par 4 that demands an accurate tee shot with out-of-bounds on the right and a creek on the left. Don't underestimate the undulating green, it has seen many three-putts in its time.

Lincoln Country Club: A Scenic Stroll Through the Twilight Zone of Golf
If you’re seeking a golf experience that combines the thrill of navigating a maze with the charm of a bygone era, Lincoln Country Club in Lincolnton, NC might just be your ticket. It’s a place where time stands still—and so do the golf carts.
⸻
First Impressions: A Test of Orientation and Nerve
Upon arrival, the real game begins—not on the course, but trying to find it. With almost no signage, locating the first tee feels like a low-budget version of The Amazing Race. The catch? You’ll need to cross a state highway to get there. No tunnel. No bridge. Just pure Frogger vibes.
Then comes the joy of tee #10, where you again cross the highway, only to be greeted with… nothing. No hole marker, no signage, just your instincts and the haunting whisper of other confused golfers past.
⸻
Course Conditions: Choose Your Own Adventure
To be fair, the greens are in great shape—firm, true, and a highlight of the round. Tee boxes are fine, not fancy, but not a deal-breaker.
The fairways, however, seem to be maintained by the local deer population. Expect your ball to nestle down in overgrowth more fitting for a nature trail than a golf course.
⸻
Amenities: Rustic or Just Scary?
The restrooms are best described as “Texas Chainsaw Massacre-chic.” If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pee while being unsure if you’re alone… now’s your chance.
The pro shop staff seem friendly enough, but asking basic questions like “What’s the pace of play?” is met with the kind of shrug that makes you question if you’re even in the right building.
⸻
Transportation: Bring a Snack, You’ll Be a While
Let’s talk about the golf carts—gas-powered relics that sound like they’re powered by leaf blowers and max out around 5 MPH. So when you do cross that highway, buckle up… you’re gonna be out there long enough to contemplate your life decisions. Bonus points if an 18-wheeler barrels past while you’re mid-crossing.
⸻
Final Verdict: 2.5 Stars – A Quirky, Slow-Motion Detour on the Golf Map
Lincoln Country Club has potential, but right now it feels like a living time capsule—complete with directional confusion, cart-induced slow motion, and a sprinkle of horror-movie ambiance. Come for the cheap greens fees, stay because your cart won’t go any faster.
Best in the area
Solid conditions for spring. Greens are best in this area!
Horribly overcrowded & slow!
No cart available until 30 minutes after scheduled t-time. Pace of play was horrible. Multiple groups searching for balls, dropping people in fairway to walk 100’s of yards to the green or their next shot. Left without playing last 3 holes after over 5 hours!
Scenic Woodland Course
We played this course on a beautiful, but windy, Saturday afternoon. The pace of play was surprisingly good.
Tee boxes and fairways were in good, albeit early season, condition. The layout was fun, not overly penal and quite scenic. You will find houses/apts. on some holes but others are quite serene.
The stars at this course, however, were the greens. Even so early into the spring season they were green, plush and relatively quick. The entire course was fun but 18, green pictured, was particularly interesting. We would definitely return!
Awesome
Fun yet challenging course! Played in the early spring but the course will get in much better shape later on!
Challenging Course in Great Shape
This is a very nice course. A beautiful area, challenging layout, and a course being in great condition made for a fun day. All aspects of the course are in great shape. Good cart paths, fairways like carpet and greens that were flawless. I will play again.
soggy day
We had a light rain all day, making it difficult to grip the club. Sand traps were too wet to play out of.
Great course
The layout is nice and in great shape , the staff from pro shop to restaurant are great. The greens I wish where faster but rolled true. The fairways are nice and rough is good.
Private Club?
Pro shop employee not the friendliest. Cart path only and not sure why. Played with my 83 y/o father. Took him to his ball straight across the very wide fairway so he didn’t have to walk so far on his bad knee and was chastised by an employee for not being on the path. Course was dry, by the way. The layout was nice. Greens were smooth but not speedy at all. Couple tee boxes had no grass on them. Not sure if I’ll go back. Glad I got a good deal on GolfNow.
Well kept course
Fairways and roughs in good condition. Roughs were somewhat long. Sand traps were hard packed and wet. Greens rolled true, held the approach shot, and were somewhat slower than usual.
Dixson
Great course tee to greens after previous rain in great shape
do not play during the summer
if u are looking to play a nice private course in the summer this course is NOT it. they have ZERO water on any of the holes. overall the course isn’t terrible but should not be private and should be public. not worth it imo
