Florida golfer
Top of the bucket list for Carolina mountain golf a must play don't miss it
Great layout and conditions
Challenging due to mostly narrow fairways. Elevation changes and sidehill lies are all challenging for flatlanders. Position of drives is critical.
Condition of course was excellent. People are friendly. Didn't eat here but have in the past and food was good.
lucky to find this one!
driving through the mountains and decided we had a few extra hours, checked 'hot deals' and found this one near our destination, WOW!! what a great course, you name an aspect of a good course-this one is excellent in that category. can not wait to be 'passing through' again.
Wonderful mountain golf course
We had cart path only due to recent rain. Play was slower. The course was in great shape just wet in spots until the rain hit while on #18. The changing elevations from tee to green challenge club selection. The rough is think. Consider leaving the driver in the bag on some of the par 4s. The greens roll nicely & were in good shape. This course is on our list for a revisit.
Incredibly improved
The course has improved significantly since last season. Attention to detail is quite significant. Consistency in mowing a great improvement. The pro shop and restaurant are huge improvements. The restaurant is clean and staff is focused on service which is a refreshing change. So extremely impressed in comparison to previous experiences.
Great Mountain Course
Fantastic greens roll true and are easy to land your approach shot on. Fairways are excellent. Staff was very friendly. Overall the course is challenging but you can still score. Shot placement is key as with almost any course. Graet food and beverage in the clubhouse (Sapphire Mountain Brewing Co.) after you finish your round.
Good course. Only public in Cashiers.
Good layout for a mountain course. Restaurant service and food minimal standard.
Call the course first
Should have called the course for course conditions before booking on GN. After two hr. drive, back nine closed twos days for work on greens & tees. Fairways & roughs uncut for several days, fairways like playing out of short rough, not fun. Understand they had 3 ins of rain previous week, but apparently all workers ayifying greens. Our threesome very disappointed. Compared to the online course photos, we thought we were playing a different course! Why not a notice on GN regarding course maintenance? Until then call first!
Beautiful views. Very playable!
Beautiful course with great views and interesting holes
Must play Sapphire for the par threes
Sapphire is a wonderful public course in the Highlands area, near Brevard. The views are spectacular. It has par threes that are all signature type holes fun and quite a challenge, the 15th is an island green and elevated tee. The 13th is a beautiful par 4 with a waterfall dividing the fairway. We recommend going up on the right, the left has low hanging tree branches.
It is a very up and down course, carts are a must. The rating is a bit low, plays harder. We are going back during leaf season in October.
Mountain Golf Wet Today
This course has some great holes. We played day after heavy rains so cart path only, plugged drives and no roll. Just unlucky timing but will play again later in the fall when it dries out. Staff couldn't be friendlier and really good food in the grill.
9 Holes of Challenge and Fun
We could only play 9 holes but it was quite a challenge. Unfortunately it has been raining so much in the mountains that the course was cart path only so it played extra long. But what a beautiful course. The second hole is a par 3 straight downhill and feels and is a very narrow target. Even though we all lost balls it was so much fun to play this type of shot. Be aware that there is no practice area but the course itself is quite beautiful and challenging and, if you allow yourself, fun!
Good
I reaiiy enjoyed playing this course beautiful waterfall
Par three holes are fun I like good good
Unique features on this course.
I really enjoyed playing this course. Very pretty course with tight faieways shot placement is key. Beautiful waterfall next to green on back nine. All par three holes are unique and fun. Good food at clubhouse, friendly staff.
Gorgeous course and setup, but entirely too difficult for anyone who is more than a single digit handicap, which explains why no one was there on a Sunday. All elevation shots UPHILL and only a few downhill. The greens however are the real problem. Too much undulation and too fast. With the pin placements we had, it was impossible to do anything but three put on half of them. Nice place to take pictures of, but I and my other 12 to 15 handicap friends will not play there again. Once more, we just can't figure out why they make these course so long for the amateur. 440 yards up a mountain side on a par four from the white tees? Insane. Play the other courses down the road instead.
