Twin Oaks

Don’t want to be cruel, but I put this as one of the three worse courses that I’ve played in over 40 years of playing golf. I understand that it’s in a low income area, but there is very little done on course upkeep.

Good To Be Back Home Again

Played my very first round of golf at Twin Oaks back in the mid-70's (the decade not the score) and after moving away from home had not visited the course since around 1984. Originally, planned to play at a nearby newer course, but after visiting the place was turned off by the staff. Decided to go to Twin Oaks just to give it a look. Glad that I did. The staff was friendly, informative and very helpful. Wound up playing three times during the week as I was truly made to feel like I was home - which for the moment, I guess I was. The course was in good shape and there are some challenging holes to keep one entertained along with a few easier ones providing relief opportunities for your scorecard. The only downside I think, is that given this is the oldest golf course in Statesville and I think Iredell County, locals tend to take it for granted. Finishing up my initial round there I went inside the clubhouse to tell the staff member (Ken, I think, apologies if I got the name wrong) how much I enjoyed my morning there. Another customer was there complaining about the recent increase in green fees saying she ought to be able to play 36 holes for what Twin Oaks charged. Like me, she belonged to the senior circuit which translated to a rate of $22 which included a cart. Yeah, highway robbery. Could not believe she could be so ridiculously rude and childish. Guessing she lives under the delusion the course maintains itself and the staff works for the sole joy of experiencing customer interaction like with her. I would love to pay $22 on my current home course. However, if they did only charge $22, I'd likely never get a tee time or have to book seven days in advance. Looking forward to my next visit home and a return to Twin Oaks.

Ridiculous layout-Tee Times don’t matter

Course does not honor golf now reservations unless made before 9:00am. Had to wait minimum 10 minutes on every tee box. Greens were bad. Ran out of carts. Certain tee boxes have you hitting over other greens and tee boxes. Would NEVER play there again.

Good for the price

This is a solid place to golf for the price. Pretty good layout that’s fun to play and not overly challenging or frustrating. On 3 there’s a tree that blocks the fairway that I wish was gone but other than that it’s good.

Course Represents what you are paying

If you just want to get your swing in track and not pay anything. This course is for you, other than that, maybe the worst conditioned course I have ever played but you are not paying much for it.

Reasonable rates for a wide open course

Enjoyed a nice round on a perfect day of 74 and sunny! Pace of play was a little slow. Course in in pretty good shape with excellent greens

Nice course

We were traveling north and decided to stop in town for the night. We made a tee time and were able to get on for the hot deal the next day. We found a course to be very playable and enjoyable.

Average Course

For only 30 dollars I didn’t expect any less than what I got. Fairways were not bad but the greens were very inconsistent and had a few rough spots. The course layout made it a fun experience but the greens could use some work. I would play here again if I was in the area.

Decent course, good value, poor pace of play

In pretty good shape. What you’d expect from an affordable muni. But the pace of play is awful. They really need to manage that. Got behind two slow foursomes. One of them took 15 minutes to finish a par 3! Ended up driving around them and skipping 2 holes.

Tee Times Mean Nothing

First off the course is fun to play especially for a high handicap golfer. Open layout that is very forgiving while not getting boring with a bunch of straight par 4’s.

However, the professionalism of the course staff left a lot to be desired. The course allowed tee times to be booked online as early as 7:23. Someone in the 7:23 group even called to verify the tee time. No one was onsite to open the gate until 7:30. By 7:30 15+ cars were lined up all with early tee times. Upon paying for the round I was informed that 2 groups always play first even though they had later tee times than multiple groups ahead of us.
