Beautiful course, pushy marshal
Place is gorgeous. Well-maintained and scenic. The problem was that it was a busy day, and the marshal moved our time up at the very last second. We figured getting their early would give us enough time to get some practice in on the putting green. This resulted in a stressful first hole, as the Marshal wanted us to start as soon as we pulled up to the putting green. Great course overall though, and the Marshal lightened up as the day went on.
Great value
Overall course was in great shape, there are just a few holes that have been patched together and are just not fun to play. Other than that course was nice and in good shape
Course layout
This course is senior friendly and small greens. The layouts are worst in my 43 years of golfing. The condition is fair.
Great day!
I played Lake Junaluska course on a beautiful sunny day and throughly enjoyed my round and the course. The setting in the mountains gives you beautiful views as you enjoy the golf. I would definitely recommend this course to others.
5 hour round
Why can't golfer understand pace of play. Is it really that hard to understand? If you don't have a single digit handicap then DON'T hit off the pro tips. Why do some of you feel the need to wait for the group ahead to clear the green before you tee off. When you can't hit the ball over 250 yards.alot of you need to stop dreaming your not a pro. Play your skill set.
Great course
Course is in great condition they have worked hard on it. Wish they would pave and repave all the cart paths and it would be 5 stars all around and I probably would buy a membership.
Holy Paranoia: The Gospel According to Golf Marshall
DO NOT COME HERE. The Golf Marshall reigns supreme on a mission to uphold the sanctity of the course. Disclaimer: My group was well-behaved, and did fully adhered to their no alcohol policy.
Picture this: you are about to tee off, but out of the corner of your eye you see the Marshall stalking your group. Now I’ll give this guy credit, on some holes he would stay out of sight until we were on the green and then make his presence known. After a few holes this got obnoxious and really ruined the groups day.
This place felt like it was a cult. Eerie vibes, seemed like everyone here knew everyone and was not friendly to outsiders. Would not recommend!
Pace of play
Golfers need to remember you are not the only person or group on the golf course. If you are holding others up because you feel the need to spend 20 minutes looking for a ball. Then simply motion the next group to play through. It's called golf etiquette. Marshals let's get the pace of play back to 4 hours.
Nice course, somewhat short though
Nice course in great shape when we played. People there were very nice. Course rewards accuracy over distance. I'm not the longest hitter, so that was fine by me!
Two holes on the back you will either love or loath! Both are "drivable" par 4's, but both are blind tee shots.
I'm not from the area, so not likely to play here again...but if I was in the area, I would!
Fun and challenging
I played lake junaluska at the last minute to escape my in laws for a few hours and boy was I impressed. The shop attendant was very helpful and knowledgeable, giving me the ins and outs of some of the more difficult holes on the course. The course was in great shape despite having inclement weather the previous few days, they were even concerned the final few holes wouldn't be open, but there top notch grounds crew got them up to snuff by the time I made it there. The course was busy for how cold it was, but pace of play was steady. This course has some of the more challenging holes I've ever played, but it was not so challenging as to draw ire or frustration. I actually broke 90 for my first time ever, with an 88 on a par 68, so it doesn't really count but I'll take it. I Would recommend anyone in Waynesville or the surrounding area put this course on your bucket list.
Pace of play
This is for the players
Do you know what the term pace of play means? For most of you that don't that means when 8 other people are on the same hole waiting for your group to get done either speed up or let others through. Just because you're cheap and feel you need to spend 20 minutes looking for a 1.00 ball while others wait is inconsiderate to others players. Oh and another thing golfer need to tee of on the tees that fit your game. Stop teeing off the tips when you can't hit a drive 200 yards. Most of you need to stop dreaming and play the tees that fit your game.
Too many golfers...
I know it was an early spring day, but tee times are too close for this course layout. Waited for the group in front of us on every hole, some holes waited for multiple groups. Otherwise, good day on an average public course.
