VERY NICE
My wife and I played, and we have played there twice before over the years (when attending our family reunion in that area). Course Staff are always "super helpful and friendly" - could give some others lessons in customer service, the course and greens were in great shape, and grounds crew were working rapidly/impressively as we played. We were impressed with everything - they keep the course well maintained, and it's a good deal for the $ you pay.
Excellent course for the money! Great condition and always fun!
I've never been disappointed with the condition of the course or the friendliness of the staff. Can't beat it for the price!
Very nice course!
Nice course. The fairways and greens were in good shape.
Good Course for the Money..
Very Nice Public Course. Well keep, and super for the money, with a cart. Can't bet it.
very wet
my most important piece of equipment in my golf bag was my ball retriever for getting to ball IN the middle of the fairway front nine terrible shouldnt have let people out there or charged half price
First time, but definitely going to return!
First, a bit about me. I'm a former collegiate player who doesn't get out as often as he'd like, but I can still keep a 7-8 handicap at most courses, despite playing two-three times a month.
In playing this course for the first time, I was already marvelling at tee box and green conditions. I've played about a dozen different courses in the area (Smithfield, WIlson, Louisburg, Raleigh) and the tees and greens at Wedgewood are easily among the best in terms of conditions.
It was a nice day, but I played after we had fairly significant rain in the week leading up to my round. So it was Very difficult to find a dry spot on the course. This made it play longer of course, but it's only set up as a 6,000yrd course from the tips, so adding two hundred yards still keeps it on the shorter-to-average side of courses.
Course layout: tight, doglegs abound. Not tight in terms of the landing areas, but in the fact that 170-200 yards off the tee, the fairway bends 90 degrees left or right. Even playing for the first time, I was able to dictate how much I'd need club-wise and play a decent tee ball.
The thing that will definitely have me coming back, was the staff! I showed up as a single, as I like to play solo when I can, to play quick, hit a few extra balls or putts here or there, etc. The first tee was somewhat backed up, the 10th hole was about to have people coming off of 9. So the guy working in the pro shop and the ranger came up with a solution to get me out immediately, so that I could move along, yet not be held up or hold others up. They started me on 12, so it was a different place to start, but hey, they put forth the effort to get me out, get playing, and make me happy. Which I think we all can appreciate! And, I got a great deal on Golfnow as well...$14 to ride 18! There were other options for $18 to ride 18 as well, so the deals are available.
Great course, great staff, and I can't wait to get back out to Wedgewood once things dry out a bit and May, June, July get here!! I'll be bringing friends as well.
Simple layout at a good price
The course was in playable condition. The greens were slow for my liking, and I felt the fairways were bare and firm. However, it was a good value. I would play there again.
Fantastic Atmosphere
Staff is friendly and helpful to accomodate your needs. Had no trouble with booking or getting setup at course.
Good Deal
Very well maintained municipal course. 4 hr round on a sunday was great. Will definately be back!
Good course for money
Good course for the money had to wait 1hr for our third to get a cart but it was crowded behind a group of 4 and 2 groups of 5 without letting us play through made for an extra slow day
Very nice course and everyone was very friendly. We were taken care of nicely.
All went very well. We all had a nice time. The staff was very friendly.
Extremely friendly staff; course in great shape for winter
We were warmly welcomed, given free sandwiches and golf balls. Staff super friendly. Owner came out to us twice to make sure we were enjoying our game.
