A Muny Gem in Wilson, NC
We played last weekend and though the greens were starting to grow in, the fairways were excellent and well groomed. What appeared to be a wide open course ended up being a bit more tricky than it looked. It has some holes where you must work the ball around and a few nice water holes. A couple doglegs will require some shaped shots to score well. This course is a little gem and Wilson City is taking excellent care of it. The staff was friendly and the Starter explained the history of the course to us. That was a nice touch. Pace of play was surprisingly quick even though we ran into a slower group on 14 and followed them through 18. We'll be going there again soon because it was a lot of fun
Awesome
Amazed at condition of course. Group golfer for 14 dollars. 18 holes with course
Great place
The course is real nice. That day rain in the afternoon i only got to play 6 holes and they only gave me a raincheck for nine holes besides that everything else was great.
Great public course
Less than $20 for seniors on weekend. Great value and well maintained. Just over seeded tee to green. Will be lush all winter. One of the few courses around here that does over seed fairways too.
Nice course but flat
The course was in good shape despite the previous two weeks of rain. There were some wet areas on the course. The greens had recently been aerated and were extremely slow and bumpy. Some very nice holes (par 3s especially).
Perfect Greens are back!!!
Great greens, great fairways, forgiving layout with surprising challenges here and there. Quiet electric carts. Flexible staff. Cool dog on the front porch. Excellent pricing. Play this course!
Bang for your buck
Hadn't played this course but was very pleased with the course and the conditions. It looks to be open and gives you the impression you can just wacky away and be okay. Well that was wrong. It makes you think and gives a good challenge to all your clubs. I truly enjoyed playing it and would play there more often knowing it's priced well and has amazing fairways. Pleased customer and will return.
Wedgewood
Greens are not in the best of shape. Several greens have large spots on them where there is no grass. I won't go back until after the greens have recovered. The Tee Boxes had been aerated, but the rest of the course was in great shape. The don't take Tee Times after 3pm pm its first come first serve and its $18 to play and ride 18 after 3pm , so don't book here it'll cost you an extra 5 bucks to book a tee time that cost $18 at the course anyway after 3pm.
easy but poor
Unless you live near the course, you don't have to visit that golf course at all. The only good thing of the club is fairway, and the others poorer than I expected.
Great, affordable outing!
I visited Wedgewood for the first time on Saturday and it was well above expectations. I'd say that this is the best "out of season" golf course that I've had the pleasure of playing at. It was a little soggy in the shady areas from our recent bout of snow/ice and rain, but this place obviously has their act together. Played the whole 18 with a partner and got the whole round in under 3.5 hours. Perfect pace of play, with enough challenges to make you think hard about your next shot. Dog legs all over the place ensure that you'll be able to use just about every club in the bag. I'd do it again today if i didn't have to clock in at work!
Good winter course
This course was in good shape for February. The fairways and the greens were over seeded. It was nice to play on green grass this time of year. The course is easy which makes it fun to play.
good for a hot deal
Had winter grass which was nice compared to all dormant grass this time of year...
Great course
Great course to practice, totally flat, wide open, great doglegs to use your bag of clubs, greens are great, turf and grass excellent shape.
Grumpy staff
The first time I played this course (using golfnow) it is was great, short little course for not a lot of money, and it's in pretty good shape. The second round started out a little weird, when we checked in the old man behind the counter seemed annoyed about us having a Golfnow tee time, and even cursed about wanting to quit Golfnow..then a few minutes later when we're on the range he comes out to tell us that there are temporary tees on the entire course. This was lame because we had no idea and would've played somewhere else if we had known. We essentially played from the ladies' tees and were surrounded by running sprinklers and mowers the entire time. The course was extremely soggy and played super short. On the way out, the old man berated my friend for bringing his own beer, even though it was literally two beers. I understand we may have broken a rule about beer but the way it was handled was poor and left a bad taste in my friends mouth. All in all it was a bad experience and I don't think I'll be back
Lot of bang for the buck
Challenging but fair and always in great condition my first clue on how a course is kept is the bunkers and they had white sugar sand in them a big plus I would highly recommend you to add this course to your bucket list
Great Value
Played this past Sunday morning for the first time here. Being one of the busiest times to play, we never felt rushed or waited on the group in front of us for too long. The greens were damp from all the rain this past week, but dried up as the day went on. For the price I would definitely come back and play.
Good Course
We really like this course. It is mostly flat, but offers some good challenges as well. It is a nice course, and well kept. We will definitely play it again.
Water logged
I had played this coarse before and it was pretty nice. This time it was water logged beyond belief and it was a challenge to get a spot where it wasn't soggy. That being said it had rained the night before so when I play this coarse again I will note to self if it rains the night before to cancel and try on a dryer weekend.
Very Nice Public Course
My husband and I played 18 holes on Sunday. We were very impressed with the course conditions, lovely foliage along the way and speed of play. This course was extremely busy and we moved along very nicely. The only thing that I would like to see is some time of grill or food. We didn't realize that once we made the turn, there was nothing available to eat. We were not familiar with the course and the layout. We definitely will bring snacks along next time.
Very pretty course
My husband and I played this course for the first time and we really enjoyed it. The course was in excellent shape, and we moved around pretty well considering how busy it was on a Sunday afternoon. The only thing I would like to see there is a grill or some type of food that can be ordered. We didn't realize that when we made the turn there would be no access to food. Otherwise we had a most enjoyable day.
