A hidden gem!
I played this course a lot 20 yrs ago...but hadn't played it recently. I was most pleasantly surprised! Layout is a bit tough (as I remembered); conditions were decent overall (rough was a little tall and in need of mowing...which they were doing on the day); but greens were the best I've seen in a good long while! And at this price point ($19), I can't imagine better.
Fine for the money
I like the course lay out. The price is among the lowest in town. It is a good place to practice.
The greens are very slow, which has been well documented. My only other complaint is the fringe grass is very high. You can actually lose a ball in the high grass, just a couple of feet off the fairway.
To be fair, it’s a cheap, public course, don’t expect it to be perfectly maintained. Once you gets past that, it’s a good value.
Over Grown
I know we have had a ton of rain lately. The greens were very fuzzy and slow . The rough was over grown with weeds etc. Still a good round and good value!
Slow slow slow
If you want to play slow greens then this is your course. Other than that course is in great condition. Try to stay in fairways though. You cannot hardly find it in the rough
Had to go play it again
So I don’t usually leave a review 2 weeks apart. But we played this course yesterday for the second time in 3 weeks. The greens and pace of play was my gripe. Well the greens were still slow but they are in good shape. They roll fairly true and the speed was much better. I went to the practice green and immediately was mad we came back. It was slower than last time. The course was not like this at all. I love the lay out of the course. Some tee shots need trees removed so you can get a better angle to hit. The driving range still has not opened but the people running it is super friendly! The guy at the grill was such a pleasure to talk to and food was not to bad either. This course does not get enough love. People should start playing it more and get this place back on the map. Well worth the price of green fees.
Mismanaged
I am sure this is a great course during the week day. I really enjoyed playing the course itself. It is horribly mismanaged though. Tee times are not respected. They had four groups waiting to tee off at once. Of course it was my tee time. Pace of play was awful. Every single hole had someone waiting on someone else. My brother and I played 9 holes in 3.5 hours. We paid for 18 but just couldn't stand waiting any longer and left. Really disappointing course during busy days
Get what you pay for.
Let’s start with the good. The Marshall came by 3 times on the front asking if we needed water. It was extremely hot and it was a great gesture for sure. The whole staff was super friendly. The check in guy wore a sleeveless shirt so I’m guessing you don’t need collard shirts. This was no issue whatsoever. The young man was very nice to us as we checked in.
Hit driver at your own risk. The course is extremely tight but fair. The layout was very fun to play. I’m pretty sure I used every club in the bag. Tee boxes was fluffy but had plenty of grass. Now for the greens. When I pay a high green fee this is the first thing that better be on point. When I pay a green fee I expect to be able to use my putter. The greens are extremely sloooowwwww! Almost like putting on carpet. They were not to bumpy and you had to pay attention to the grain. If it was into you I’d almost recommend a wedge “jk” maybe. A couple fairways had some sloops that made it challenging. Overall I really enjoyed the layout.
My biggest gripe was about 5 holes in. We were behind two men and pace was slow. We play a hole and realize the two men were gone and we are now behind two men and a lady. They were very high handicap players. When they came out of a bunker they would not clean their shoes and they would track sand all over the green. After they eventually got out of the bunker. It was so bad that we stopped after 9 and had a hotdog and a beer inside the clubhouse. Which btw was pretty good. We play number 10 after about 20 minutes of lunch time and we get to 11 and there they are. We are waiting again for them to get out of the fairway. They wouldn’t even acknowledge us behind them. Maybe if they knew us they would let us through. It was awful!! I see the Marshall for the first time on number 15. I ask if they are packed or the ones in front of us just that slow? He says they are just that slow and pulls off. So all the signs about slow players will be made to let others through was a bunch of crap.
I gave 4 stars because I felt the course was better than a 3 but more like 3.5 because of what we paid and the conditions was ok. But if you gone post signs about slow play them abide by your own rules. Oh I forgot to mention they had new carts and they are nice. No range but was told I could hit my own balls if I wanted to?! It’s a course you should try for the 25 bucks. Pay their for like 27 or 29 so not a bad price. We may return but only after they finish with the updating. It has so much potential and I hope they get it up and looking good.
Woman Friendly for Scoring
Not a gimme but good golf shots definitely rewarded. Greens are slow but true. I like this course
Awesome!
Great bang for your buck. Some difficult lies and only one of the tee boxes was a bit rough but the groundskeepers were out and about taking care of the course. Definitely will be playing again!
Worth the time and money
First time i played with another pair..the clubhouse people were friendly and easy transactions. the pace of play was nice on a beautiful weather....nice rolling hills and requires you to place the ball at targets..its definitely worth the money..
