Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

This course does not drain well. There was standing water on the fairways, especially 17 which was terrible. The first rain in almost 1 week required the course to cart path only play which made a long round with bad conditions worse. I won’t be going back until we have a drought

Loved it!
I went out as a single and finished my round in way less than 3 hours! I like that the course has a sign on 1st tee for all groups to keep their pace to no more than 2 hours per 9 holes. The course is in great shape and has a lot of twists and turns. The greens are fast and slope down back to front so you will want to keep your ball below the hole or you're going to have a super fast putt or one with 5+ feet of break. I will definitely be back soon!

Course conditions fair to average. Rude staff and over priced
No indications when I booked that the course had discontinued the cart per player because of covid 19. Apparently they believe that the Covid 19 threat no longer exists. We were rudely told it be $11 for each extra cart.! Luckily we found a cart that had the plexi glass divider. The Starter was also very rude! The greens were very inconsistent considering the pricey green fees. Lots of other courses in the area that are a much better deal and the staff are friendly.

Chardon Lakes in great shape
Course is in wonderful condition, greens running good, we had a glorious afternoon. Saturday so a tad slow but to be expected. Hot dog was good.

Very Friendly Staff
Staff is working very hard to be friendly and courteous despite the social distancing restrictions. Course is in great shape. The greens were fast and true no sign of excess play Great Job Chardon Lakes!!

Wonderful Layout
Pace of play other than weekends is normally very quick. Today Was especially so. Perhaps Because I didn’t notice the greens had been listed as aerated on the golf now listing. Having said that it’s still a great course. Someday I’ll finish it strongly..
