Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Unfortunate experience
I went to play with my wife and son who was visiting from New York and likes to play golf when he visits. I payed for 3 nine hole rounds knowing that my wife would play very little but wanted to come along and we would need 2 carts. After teeing off on the first hole we were approached by a ranger and told that my son could not play without having his own clubs and that we would need to rent a set of clubs for him. I admit I was very irritated as we have played at 4 other local golf courses without my son having his own clubs without incident. I don't agree with the policy but understand why they have the policy. This occurred at 3 PM on labor day so the course was was not busy. So I went back to the clubhouse and was informed that it would cost $40 to rent the clubs for 9 holes. That I could not justify in any manner. Thats just too much. This isn't South Beach or Myrtle Beach. So I did not play but lost the $10 convenience fee paid to Golf Now. I very much like the course and will go there again. But I think that management should certainly review the policy and cost of renting clubs.
Good shape!
Played on the golf now rate. Very happy to play there for the cost. Usually over $50 on the weekend. A little pricey for the shape and pace of play at this course. Our experience was fantastic. Would always go back with the golf now rate.
Chardon Lakes
Great coarse...friendly staff
Challenging...
Well kept...
Great course!
The course was in perfect shape. The price was fantastic. Even playing behind a league was not too slow.
This course has the fastest public greens around
Tough challenge. Need to be at the top of your game. Back nine last three holes are the toughest around.
Very Good
-Course in great shape
-Easier Layout
- Bunkers are hard
- Free yardage books are clutch additions
Good layout, tough greens
Interesting layout and no two holes are the same. Provides the opportunity to hit every club in the bag. Fun course to play but the greens are extremely difficult due to severe sloping from back to front and inconsistency in speeds.
Chardon Lakes shined today.
Paired up with another couple The pace of play was excellent. The course was very nice. The greens were fast and very challenging this day. I will be back.
Find another place that rewards good shots
greens slope back to front and are difficult. I saw mostly seniors playing or should I say struggling with greens. spend money somewhere else.
Professional Grade Greens
Love the greens at Chardon Lakes! Beautiful condition today along with the fairways! Rolled so pure and fast. Above the pin at CL will test your nerves and skill. Feel that this course is underrated!
Course conditions are great! Pace of play awful
Staff friendly and course conditions wonderful. Don't golf on Tuesday mornings because the ladies league is extremely slow!!!
Impressive
Slope-y greens with a true roll. Very impressed by the upkeep of the course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back to play!
tough pin placements
course was in great condition fast greens and challenging pin placements each put in at the bottom of slope
Tough Course from the tips
Chardon always in top shape holes 2,3,4 ,6,and 7 are a nice stretch of different holes to play that can't make your round or good luck.
Beautiful Course
This was our first time playing this course and it was beautiful. If we lived closer we would definitely play here often.
Great day
Great conditions. Called to ask if my dad could ride along. He is in assisted living and no longer holds but likes the view. Course manager said no problem. Very friendly about it
Well Kept Course
Chardon Lakes is a well kept course. The greens are in midseason shape already. The fairways are manicured for good play. Overall an excellent course to play in northeast Ohio!
