About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Wowza!
Recommended by the staff at a nearby course that we also liked. This course is great. Super fast greens , even when wet. Strategic shot choices on most holes. I was glad we had the cheat sheet. 16 through 18 are a real challenge. We played Silver in wet conditions but would absolutely love to come back and try the tips in warm and dry conditions. Many of the back tees were from really cool places. Seemed like a much more expensive proposition than it was. . We'll be back!
Great Course
I play this course often. I really think it’s the best maintained public course in Northeast Ohio. It is always immaculate. Trees are trimmed, greens are smooth, carts work. Staff is over friendly, and always accommodating. Small snack bar, but the food is good.

Nice course

Wet course, but enjoyable
Course was wet, but greens and fairways were well kept. Rough was difficult because of height and wetness. Cart paths had so many potholes, it was almost dangerous. Course would be much prettier if paths were repaved. Was by myself, so played very fast

Needs some work
Greens and fairways were in great shape. Rough was deep. Great pace of play, as I played by myself. Cart path have lots of potholes, if that is fixed the course would be 5 stars. Some areas as ground under repair, but were clearly marked. I would go back, golfnow rate was $12!

Chardon Lakes is Fun to Play in Autumn
The greens are in great shape and still quick for this time of the year.
Fairways and tee boxes were excellent. Greens very inconsistent
When we checked in they told us greens would not be aerated until later this month.
Most of the greens on the front 9 were very fast but at least two had been aerated and a couple not cut. Most of the back nine greens were aerated and/or were not cut. It was very frustrating as one did not know what to expect when putting.
Great course
Course is in excellent condition, starting to feel like it:"s like my home course, Hole 17 is a tough hole, but fun to play

Chardon Lakes
Course as always was pristine,just need some real sand in the bunkers,current stuff is hardpan and loaded with stones.
Overall course is in great condition. Greens are fast and you need to stay below the hole. Enjoyed playing here and will be back.
Fun course...poor pace of play.
Up here from FL. Joined a nice 3some. Starter was able to get us out early. Course is fun and fair. Minor issue with holes 6 and 7. Kind of 'shooting gallery' with players missing fairways onto other players. A bit dangerous. Pace of play is an issue. Took just over 5 hours to play. Never saw a ranger the whole time. Will play again, but need to prepare for a LONG round.

First time playing this course-the staff was friendly-the tees greens fairways and sand traps were very good-the course layout was challenging-we played the front and back 9's in 2 hours each on a Saturday morning-will be back a number of times this year-thanks
