Looking Good On A Hot Afternoon
A really nice club. Beautiful clubhouse. Well kept.
Shabby
Greens were rotted tees were weeds. They cut grass and nothing more. This is a course headed for closure. Charge an outrageous 50$ for crappy conditions and slow play
Course is Improving
I haven't played Legend Lakes in a couple of years. I was pleasantly surprised that the course has shown improvement with the greens and fairways being in decent shape. The course has a just enough character and challenge to make it a fun trek. Very nice day on the links.
Course was in AWFUL condition
Staff was very friendly. Other than that the course was in about the worst condition I've ever seen any course in my life. It was borderline unplayable. Greens were also atrocious spotty burnt ground. Probably the worst was the cart paths. So bumpy we avoided them completely. I will not be returning anytime soon.
Close it.
The course should be closed. The tee boxes are basically unusable. Just weeds and dirt. The greens are un-puttable. Large patches of no grass. They shouldn't be charging to use the course. Our cart broke down and we had to walk back to club house with our clubs. (In pouring rain btw). The good: the man behind the counter was very pleasant fellow to chat with.
STAY AWAY!
First, let me tell you, IGNORE any review that puts this place over 3 stars. They have to be friends of the owners or have the lowest standards ever because when I say it is a goat track, I’m not exaggerating. Legend Lake has gone down hill so bad. It’s about time it closes. Paid $32 to play 18 on October 6, 2025 and only played 9 because of the conditions.
First, I will say that the staff is really nice from the check in, to the cart girl to the grounds crew. That was the good. However, the tee boxes are loaded with weeds and bare spots. The fairways are very hard and dead in a lot of areas (see photo). The roughs are weedy and hard to play out of and the greens are patchy, bumpy and diseased. The course could be nice with an aeration of the whole course, cleaning up decorative areas, a good seeding and proper maintenance. The only maintenance done seems to be grass cutting. Even the cart paths are beat to death. There are no ball cleaners anywhere either. It is pretty sad to see what used to be a private club fall into such disrepair. As you go down hole 9, on the left, there is a building attached to the clubhouse with a giant hole in the roof and looks condemned. I think they need to sell this course to new ownership because it’s not getting the care it needs or sell it to developers. Honestly, there are much nice courses around the area. Play here only if you can’t get in somewhere else and it’s under $20. Anymore and it’s robbery.
Needs a huge revamp
This course has been progressively declined in almost all areas. The restrooms in the locker room are putrid, cart paths couldn’t get worse, and then the course conditions…. I understand it’s been a dry summer. This course is unplayable. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are showing years of neglect. To think this place was a private club recently is hard to fathom. 70$ is hard to justify here. Although I’d hate to see what this course looked like if they charged what they should be charging. I’ve played here quite a bit the last few years and I think I’m finally ready to give up on it. I believe the property would make for a great housing development though!
Too many obnoxious young kids running around
Too many obnoxious young kids running around, wrestling with each other, drinking leaving cans in the fairway. Loud music and playing slow because they are screwing around. Then next time we are there same thing only rushing - literally like running to the ball.
Tucked away Gem
Love this course. Staff is friendly pace of play has always been good. If they put a little more money into it it would be stellar.
Expensive for condition
I liked the course and would recommend if it were less expensive. Fairways, greens and Tees are in rough shape. Course could be great if can get it fixed up.
From bad to worse
I thought they were making an effort to improve conditions but I believe they are as bad as they were two years ago. I love the layout, but conditions have to improve before I play it again. One of the worst courses around…
Ranger Desperately needed
We played a 5.5 hr 18 due to groups infront playing scrambles and being bad. A ranger to kick them along would have helped. The course looked like it used to be real nice, but is in desperate need of love. Fairways had bare spots, greens were sick. But we paid very little for the round and the course was interesting enough to make fun.
Same tightwads that own Fowlers, Powderhorn & St.Denis. Get out of the golf business, you do not have a clue.
