Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Great Course
Course was in great shape! Great pace of play. Driving range was also in very good condition.
out of town visit
The course was perfect condition and greens were flawless. We played in 4 hr and day was all around perfect.
Gary
This is an enjoyable course to play and a good challenge (better to be accurate than long I'd say). It was in great condition and I highly recommend trying this course if you have not yet.
Worth the drive
A little far but worth the drive. They do a great job taking care of the course. Only complaint I had was on a hot day like it was (85 degrees), 2 of the water coolers were empty on the back nine and there was no beverage cart going around.
Golf
Beautiful day beautiful course nice staff good deals at pro shop the greens are definitely challenging and so's the course but you will enjoy Chardon Lakes
Fathers Day 2014
Couldn't ask for much better in terms of weather. 80 and sunny this past Sunday. Only drawback was the backup on the first couple holes. Can't really blame them as it was just a busy day. Everyone evened out after the 3rd hole anyway.
Wonderful Course
This is a wonderfully maintained cours with plenty of interesting and challenging holes. One of our favorite Cleveland area courses.
Great course in great condition.!!!!
Love playing this course. Course was in great condition. Staff friendly. Enough challenging holes for the advanced player. Visit a few times a year.
Great Course
Very well maintained course with excellent greens. Play from the tips for added challenge. Worth the drive from Rocky River.
Great time!
First, I can't thank the staff at Chardon Lakes enough for their hospitality. Everybody there was so friendly. The course was in beautiful shape. We were teamed up with a single that also booked the same time as us and we had a blast. As it turned out, we actually have played together at another course a couple of months prior. We will play there again!
Would go back
Scratch golfer. Played many courses so far this year. The greens are as good as any I have played around the East Side of Cleveland this year. Tight tee shots. Long par 3's, over all a tricky course (From the Black Tee's) Enjoyed it. Still a little wet out but then again it rained before our round. All the greens have interesting slopes and undulations. Enjoyable and WILL go back. Thanks
Geauga County Gem
Chardon Lakes is a great golfing experience. It's in great shape for this time of year but then it always is.It usually isn't crowed as it is a little ways from downtown Cleveland, but it is a scenic drive that makes for a pleasant outing. Highly recommend.
Nice track, but a little pricey
It's a nice course, with friendly staff, and a fantastic hotdog if you're hungry. (I mean that it is a juicy well cooked dog) But moving on, the greens could be in a little bit better shape, but it is still very early in the season. I would go back again, maybe in a month or so.
Nice course.
Very nice course for the money. Not busy at all so round was really fast. Also, great staff.
Course is in great shape
It's probably been near 15 years since I played @ Chardon Lakes, but I'll definitely be back very soon. The course was in phenomenal condition which surprised me being late in the season. The greens were smooth and fast. There was no noticeable aeration marks whatsoever as they healed quite quickly. They seem to take much pride in keeping the overall conditions the best possible which is a really nice feature to know as a player. I'd definitely recommend getting out here if you might have you doubts b/c I know I did and am glad I found out just how nice it played.
A Nice Sunday Stroll
Though the course boasts that it has the three toughest finishing holes which is a bit of a stretch, Chardon Lakes is worth playing. Te course is tight with smallish greens. Holes are challenging and require some thought about club choice. The greens weren't rolling as fast as the could (it had rained the previous day) but when fast, being above the hole could prove disastrous.
The final three holes are challenging -- a long dogleg left par 4, a very long par 5 with a green tucked up on a little hill, and a dogleg right par 4 which requires a precise second shot.
This course is designed so that the player who wants to walk can do so. After all, nine holes of it were designed before carts were an option.
Great Course!
Chardon Lakes was in great shape. The greens held and rolled true. I was people would repair ballmarks. The staff is great here. I was a single and played the front. The back nine was crowded so the marshal let me play the front again. Very playable from the middle tees but still very challenging layout.
Very well maintained course
Loved it. would recommend this course to others. the greens were challenging and well maintained. Surprising for the course fees.
Great old style course
A true isk/reward course. The rough will hurt you and the greens are fast. Good test of ability...
