Golfer Reviews
Challenging good value track. Goofy par fives.
The course is one if the best we played during out 9 day stay in the Cleveland area. All the holes are lovely and challenging. 2 of the par fives. Especially the first are a bit goofy since oddly placed trees prevent a clear shot to the green from outside of 100 yds.
Top value and would highly recommend. A bit stingy on the practice balls although they include 20 or so. The facilities are basic with no locker facilities.
Best around
Definitely in my top 3 in the area. Would love to play here more. Worth every penny. Very challenging course. #4 is one of the best holes ive ever played. Can't wait to go back and hopefully do better next time.
Excellent course to play
Staff very friendly and accommodating. The course was "private club" condition. I would recommend this course, but bring your A game or you will shoot a 93 like I did, seriously a great course to play for all levels.
One of My Favorites
Fowler's Mill is one of the top public courses in NE Ohio. The layout is beautiful and you will use every club in your bag. There are a lot of trees., but fairways are not too narrow. Fairways were in nice shape even after a lot of rain. Greens are tough to read, but they are fair. Clubhouse food was good and all staff were pleasant. This course is not for a beginner.
This course was very well maintained
The greens and fairways are in great shape and is a great challenge to play. However, they need to improve on their starter process as we played as a twosome but apparently the other twosome did not show. No one came to tell us to play as a twosome so we finally did on our own. But there was another two twosomes behind us and only multiple foursomes ahead. The starter should have paired us up. I play a lot of different courses in the area (20+) that are in similar shape but the green fees are much less so this course is not a good value. There are so many members that the course always plays very slow. I am glad I can say I played this course but I will not be a repeat customer.
Best public course in Greater Cleveland
Course was in immaculate condition. All kinds of different holes. Challenging but fair. I've played pretty much every public course in the Cleveland area and Fowler's Mill, when you combine course layout, conditions and difficulty, is the best...hands down, discussion over.
Challenging and scenic
Tee to green were great conditions. Challenging hole designs with forced carries to elevated greens. Clubhouse personnel were VERY friendly.
Bunkers needed work.
great course
the course has a great lay out with many challenging holes, split fairways, greens great to put on.
Great Experience
Played with my sons on Fathers Day. Pace of play was slow, but it could have been due to Fathers Day. Otherwise, a great place to play. I will definitely play there again.
Long & difficult but a great course
Since I am not a great golfer, it was very long and not easy but I enjoyed playing here and would be happy to return any time. Sceanery was beautiful, lakes, woods etc.
Pete Dye written all over it!
The turf conditions were impeccable throughout.
The undulating greens were challenging.
Lost a few balls in the rough. This slowed our play. I blame it on hitting to incorrect areas because of lack of course layout knowledge. Clubhouse was fantastic and a bit nostalgic. I wish that I lived closer.
Still a great course!
The course was in great shape. Greens were rolling quicker than they looked. All in all, a real treat to play this course at a very reasonable rate.
NEEDS A RANGER
It was a gorgeous day, I've played this course before and had great expectations. There were just 2 of us and it still took 5 1/2 hours! Our tee time was set for 11:25 and we were pushed to go out before 11:00... then waited 10-15 minutes on each tee box. They definitely needed a ranger to keep everyone moving. As for the course the greens and fairways were great, course is in pretty good shape until you get to the tee box... awful! Uneven and a little torn up, I will not make the hour trek to pay over $60, for those tee boxes and pace of play. However, the hot dogs at the turn are pretty awesome. I did mark that I would recommend the course, only if you haven't played it yet. Great track, just needs some subtle improvements to put it over the top.
#1.. Get a Ranger!!
Great course
Always a great time , staff couldn't be any friendlier and the course is definitely a premier course in the area!!!
one of the best courses in ohio
I know this course is rated in the top 10 of public courses in ohio, but I truly believe it should be top 3. I played in the early spring and by far the best greens I have played so far and probably the best I played all last year and this isn't even summer greens yet. Challenging par 3's and nice par 5's that are reachable in 2 but are challenging with the trees in way of doing so. I am really looking forward to playing again this summer for the right price ( which has been the only reason I don't try to play here more often). Overall I was very impressed with Fowlers Mill's River/Lake course.
Great course but skip the snack bar,,,
Would have given it 5 stars but the service and the food was horrible at the snack bar, especially the service.
Nice young lady.. but didn't have a clue on how to make a turkey sandwich.. a turkey sandwich to Heaven's sake.... Was charge $7.50 for 1 slice of turkey, a piece of cheese, tomato, lettuce on a burnt hamburger bun.
Challenging every time
Played this course on 9/26/2013 on a beautiful early fall day. The course was in good shape from tees to greens and the pace of play was steady although not fast. Every time I have played this course I come away realizing just how tough it is - Pete Dye does not disappoint- the fairways are often tree-lined, there any many bunkers placed strategically throughout the course and the greens are well protected. If you decide to play here, expect to be punished!
