Hinckley Hills Golf Course
About
Situated between Cleveland and Akron, Hinckley Hills Golf Course sprawls across the rolling hills of northeastern Ohio. In addition to the 18-hole championship course, there is also a short course called the Buzzard's Nest. This course features five par-4 holes that are located right in the middle of the championship course. It's a great option if you don't have time for a full 18 holes. Hinckley Hills' longer course is a challenging test that will have you using all the clubs in your bag. The undulating greens and lush contoured fairways demand accuracy, especially when coupled with the abundant woodlands. The golf course is a seemingly manageable 6,500 yards from the back tees but it can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. There are also a few water hazards to watch out for.

Absoutly Beautiful Fall conditions
great fall conditions, wonderful staff very senic in the fall.
This course has no level hitting surfaces. You are constantly hitting uphill, downhill, ball above your feet, ball below your feet.
From the moment we walked in we got nasty stuck up attitude from the staff. I am a clean cut, well groomed and dressed golfer. I felt uncomfortable immediately due to the way we were treated. At the turn, the woman behind the snack bar was rude and nasty no matter how nice and polite I was. I even wished her a nice afternoon when walking out to cart and received a dirty look from her.
If you enjoy constantly hitting a ball from hillsides, then this course is for you.
I will never return again. Starting off receiving bad attitudes can easily mess with one's golf game. Shale Creek is a much better and classier golf course than this and they treated us like gold. WARNING: Do not bother golfing at Hinckley Hills golf course unless you enjoy a horrible experience!
Nice course
First time here in long time. Course is in good condition, greens are well maintained. Back nine is short but different and fun to play.
Course conditions improving
Played here several years ago and since then they have made steady improvements to the course. Greens are in very good condition and fairways are very well maintained. The bigest problem for me is that there is very little distance markers on the course. There are painted marks on the cart path, but if you are not near there, or if there is no cart path, you have to guess your distance. Very frustrating when you under or over club on a shot.
Beautiful and Scenic
Staff was friendly and courteous. The course has a wide variety of challenging holes, some long, some target, some risk/reward holes, very little water trouble but sand and trees lined. Course was in excellent condition for late summer. Greens are slower but are ungulated so faster may make them near impossible to putt. It was a great value for the price.
Nice piece of land. Course needs new management willing to hire enough staff to spruce up the place and fix the 2-3 Mickey Mouse holes.
Nice piece of land. Course needs new management willing to hire enough staff to spruce up the place and fix the 2-3 Mickey Mouse holes, as well as train the clubhouse folks how to talk to customers.
Great setting but not a great course
Played the course in late August 2013. Fairways were not cut, cart paths were in very poor condition and the greens were slow. Setting is beautiful - nestled near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park but course conditions are poor. Only play it if you can get a super deal - something far less than the $34 we paid to play there!
Great shape, but gimmicky and not well marked
The summary says it all. The fairways and greens were in really good shape, although I would have liked a level tee box every once in a while.
There were a number of "gimmicky" holes. Really short par 4s, elevated tee shots, blind tee shots, and #13, which is just a horribly designed hole.
I never had any clue how far I needed to hit the ball. There were 150 and 100 lines painted on the cart paths on most holes, but they were faded and hard to find. A 200, 150, and 100 stake on every hole would have helped a lot, as would markings on the sprinkler head covers. It didn't have either, so my foursome spent a lot of time guessing how far we needed to hit.
In summary, a really nicely kept and picturesque course that needs to be marked a LOT better.
Long, especially from the blues
Hills are definitely part of the challenge, uphill, downhill, sidehill. First two holes are good length par fives, so make sure you are warmed up for your round. They added five new holes some years back, and they just don't fit with the other holes. They are bit contrived and more target golf than I care for. The greens rolled ok but just were not holding approach shots of any kind. My playing partner hits a golf ball as high as any one I have seen, and his approaches were bouncing and rolling off the greens. The upside to that was that there were not any unrepaired ball marks on the greens. Overall I would not play this course again.
