Course in good condition...
The course is in good condition considering all the rain it was cartpath only and the pace of play was still good ..
Soaking wet
Should not have allowed play on this marshy swamp. Paid a lot of money to walk in mud.
Same story, slow. But it is on the golfers
I drive up to 2 hrs away to play courses, and this place is less than 15min from me and I rarely play here. It’s bc it is always slow. Look, this is a great golf course! Great array of holes and they make you earn a par. Forced carries and a finishing hole that is fantastic. But, this is not a beginners course. The green tees (blues) are a 140 slope. I am an 6 hdcp and play from the green tees. However, so does every player who ponies up $100+ to play here and it kills this great course. The rangers were pushing a group that was 3 groups in front of us, but their hands are tied. The guys were slow and not very good. Add in difficulty of the course and it is a disaster. 4:45min round is not horrendous on a Sunday. But for $110 8:45am tee, and one of our playing partners calling the pro shop on 4th tee bc it took over an hour to play 3 holes, that is not value. The course is still pretty wet.
Get out on a weekday. Want to see how good your game is? This is a good test, just not on weekends.
Enjoyable and challenging hilly course
I was on the bubble of giving this course four stars but it just didn't quite get there. Still, this is a very good course with a handful of really memorable stand-out holes, especially on the back-nine. Nicklaus looks to have made the most out of the property, which is hilly with lots of elevations and starts off by gradually rising up a ridge. Most of the fairways have decent enough width, although a few holes have some tight corridors off the tee, and there are lots of drops and slopes in the fairways (sometimes too much as good shots can be left with awkward lies). It seems like quite a few of the holes angle left to the green sites. The green shapes, gentle contours, and bunkering are very good. Many greens are smallish and are long and narrow from the fairway approaches. There are a number of holes with carries over natural areas off the tees, but if playing from the right tees they aren't too much of a problem The course has some nice scenic spots with pretty views. Definitely not walkable due to the elevation changes and long green to tee distances. Conditioning was very good. Some of the holes have some odd-looking mounding off the fairways that seems unnatural. A number of holes have perpendicular natural hazards splitting the fairways. The par-5s are excellent, with strategic thought required particularly on the approach shots. I would not shy away from playing this course again.
The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge
Mansion Ridge is a 90 minute ride from my home, so I wanted to be sure about playing there so I did all my research and decided itvwoukd be worth the trip. The course is a fabulous Jack Nicklaus design and it is both challenging and visually beautiful. The course was in great condition despite extensive rainfall the day before. The greens were in great condition and running moderately fast and true, but very tricky with breaks that will surprise you. I love the vistas and the challenges this course presents and I definitely recommend it to anyone. I played the Championship tees which is just under 6500 yards and it has a slope rating of 140, so that should speak for the level of difficulty.
Worth the trip from NYC
Five Stars all the way. Worth the trip every time. The course is fantastic. Every hole is different. Keeps it interesting for all 18holes.
Showers and lockers available
The grill room topped off our day with some great food and cool air conditioning.
One of the best in the Metro area!
Course is so wet when it rains
Cart path only when it rains...
Not the courses fault... but it sucked so bad to play with mushy greens all day
Worth the money!
Great round. Definitely still a lot of drainage issues, but cart path only helps. As usual the staff was great. Pace of play was exactly what I’d except for a Sunday at 10:30. Can’t wait to go back
Beautiful course
Mansion Ridge is an excellent golf course. It was a little wet in some areas, but was in otherwise great shape. Very nice layout, greens were in excellent condition, it was a great day. Worth every penny
The Monroe Monster..
A great layout .. challenging par 5’s ..the greens are high speed... this course will truly test your skill’s and patience..
Trouble and fun to be found
There is a practice range you can hit irons and chip as much as you want so you don’t go off the first tee cold.
The course is not overly long but there are a couple of forced carriers from the back that can be too far. Long fescue rough on some holes and heavily wooded areas on others make the fairways look narrower than they are.
The course is in great condition and I scored when I stayed out of trouble.
Starter does a good job explaining the rules and there are rangers abound to ensure that the pace of play is maintained. We never waited and no one behind us had to wait.
The hot dog at the turn is highly recommended.
I’ll be back this weekend.
Most improved course I’ve have played
Course shows Troon has invested to bring it back, challenging layout and greens improved ! Must put on your list
MR Experience
Great day. Very nice conditions at a favorite course of mine. Cart Path Only was disappointing but necessary. Ranger came out with 4 holes to go and allowed 90 degree which was appreciated.
Great Course Design, Horrible On Course Management
I will start by saying that I have played this course several times. Unfortunately my experience has progressively gotten worse in terms of the harassment of on course rangers regarding pace of play. My group played on a very windy, cold and wet day in which carts were not allowed on the fairway. We proceeded to be harassed by a range for 6 holes regarding an apparent 6 minutes pace of play gap. Needless to say my group was livid. We drove north 1 hour in poor conditions to be treated like trash. This is the second time this has occurred in as many visits. I would rather pay north of $200-$300 for better treatment. This ruined my previous experience and admiration of the great design and setting of this course. These are the types of reasons this sport is dying in America. I WILL NOT RETURN.
Mansion Ridge - Monroe NY
This course has an easy review to give. Not worth 100+ Dollars early in the day or on weekends, and is a huge bargain at 35 Dollars in the afternoon. Wish they could find that happy medium price range because I would play the course much more often.
This course used to be private, and you definitely get that feel with some of the staffers. It sometimes feels like you are unwelcome there...I hate golf bias especially when im going out there and shooting better then more then half of the members that belong there. I always treat the course well because I love and respect the game, and feel like all golfers should be treated the same. Definitely the biggest knock I have on this place for sure everything else is really wonderful.
