Golf Club at Mansion Ridge

Course is in great shape for the most part. Greens run true....wish more ppl fixed there marks. Tee boxes and fairway above average shape. Real good layout tough but fair. I have no problem paying full price to play here even weekend rates it's worth it.

While reading reviews I was surprised by some of the negative comments. I play a lot of golf all over the country as well as the Metropolitan NY Area, at both Public and Private Courses. Mansion Ridge is a fantastic, challenging and fair test of golf. The greens are absolutely pure and nicer than 80% of the courses out there. The Course is well groomed but certainly not pristine. The Fairways are wide enough to be fair but severe penalties await wayward shots. Because of the landing areas for shots that are miss the fairway, it can be extremely difficult to find a wildly struck ball. Most folks will spend quite a bit of time trying which absolutely is the cause of slower than usual rounds.
My last round out I arrived at the bag drop at 6AM for a 6:36 Tee Time and ended up unloading my own Bag and Loading it on to a cart after parking and paying. To me, not a big deal, I worked at Golf Courses for many years through school and college and have done my share of loading and hauling bags. I was surprised that at a club like Mansion Ridge there was NOBODY close enough to assist in any way. If you're going to sell Tee Times that early at over $400/foursome, you should have somebody there greeting and hauling bags. Mind you, it's not much of a haul, The Bag Drop is 3 steps from the carts but a First Class Club with First Class Prices should Offer First Class Service. No big deal to me but having worked in the business at many Top Notch Courses, The Management at the finer courses would throw a fit if they ever saw a member carrying their own bag.
I will DEFINITELY return to Mansion Ridge and really wished I lived close enough to be a member. I Love The Course Design and I Love The Greens! Everything else I can deal with...

Poor yardage markers and need to install laser prism in the pins so you can shoot the laser gun for yardage.

Surprisingly Slow round for an over cast and drizzly Saturday. We played in just over 5 hours with an 8:50am tee time.

I am surprised that with 2 rangers patrolling the course they did not push players to keep with a 4:30 pace.

While the course was very nice, paying $99 for a slow round, vs. paying 20%+ less than that in the afternoon is probably the way to go. We noticed in the afternoon (when the sun came out) there were fewer cars and the course seemed more open on the front (however, could have just been the day, weather, etc...)

I have played a number of Nicklaus signature courses and found a number of them just to hard for the average golfer. This course does not fall in that category it is a good fair challenging golf course. The greens with fast but not overly fast they were true and unlike some Nicklaus courses they weren't crazy undulating. It is a Overpriced unless you can get a good golf now start time. I enjoyed the golf course and will come back if I can get that good GolfNow price.

I live in Jersey and drive an hour to get here, but it is always well-worth it. This course is gorgeous!! The first 4 holes may make you say, "not so special"....and then the fun begins!! Holes 5 through 18 are great ! Go see for yourself .....

Greens are always good. Varied, challenging holes, great views. Play here on weekday afternoons, never crowded. My friends and i work at pristine private clubs, we love this place.

One of the best values and underrated tracks in metro N.Y.

The course was in good shape and staff was attentive to our needs. I would play here again.

Booked Mansion Ridge because of a hot deal. Jack Nicklaus course so I figured it's probably worth the gamble. The course was very well maintained. My buddy and I played from the tips and the tee boxes were perfect, I did notice the shorted boxes were a bit torn up.

Fairways were will manicured and the greens have some elevation changes for challenging putting.

Worst part were the wait times. We tee'd off at 1:08 and finished up around 6:30. Over 5 hours is killer and really takes your head out of the game.

Overall I would give the course 3 out of 5 stars. If they would fix the slow playing, it would be much more enjoyable.

Regarding the pace of play----we had an outing in front of us and they were all Asians. Worse yet, they were all BEGINNERS and took twenty shots to get from the back tees to the ladies tees on every hole.
Beyond that, the golf course was in great shape. It was cartpath only, but we were glad to see the course was even open!! 24hrs of straight rain and the greens were still running at a 10!! If the greens aren't in pristine condition like they were yesterday, I can't see payng $100 to play on the weekend there. But I would still recommend this course to ANYONE!

Fun course. The course was in very good shape, especially the greens. They also have great bunkers, with the nice firm white sand. It is very challenging your first time out.

you have to have good legs to go to your ball since most of the course are too steep for the cart.

Course is very poorly marked. Need markers at least at the 100 and 200. Also it is nice they tell you the pin placement but what is the point if they don't give you a map of the greens. We finally saw the cart girl when we were coming off 18. It was in the mid to high 80s and very muggy. A couple of water coolers doesn't cut it. None of the employees had a smile. Are they all unhappy? Overall we had a good time but with a little caring from managent we could have had a great time. I did like the layout and it was in pretty good shape. If I do go back, next time I will bring a friend with a sky caddie, a few bottles of water and a couple of extra towels.

My wife and I really enjoyed Mansion Ridge. It was our second round at this beautiful course. We were welcome by the friendly staff and after a quick bite at the club house, we teed off at 3:30pm and had no problems finishing our round in less than 4 and half hours. We had been paired with 2 very friendly members (Ed & Tina) who kindly helped us with lay-out of the course. I found the course to be long with a few holes with 200+ yards carry. Mansion Ridge was in absolutely great condition, with a few absolutely spectacular holes. We will be back for sure!

I've been playing this course for a couple of years now and it has become one of my favorites in the Hudson Valley. The layout is awesome and provides some really great visuals. The course is usually in immaculate shape with receptive and fast greens. The greens were quite slow the last round I played but they should quicken up as the season progresses. The bunkers are the best in the area and well maintained. Keep your ball in the short grass or you might not find it in the fescue even if you saw exactly where it went in. The course gets much more difficult on the back 9. This course can be very easy to score on for the good ball striker as putts can be made on these flat and (normally) quick greens. Hunt for a good deal on the GolfNow site and get out and play this course!

The course was in good shape for this time of year(early spring). It has several holes that are very challenging. The lay of the land was used to make some unique holes that are difficult but not unfair. The price I paid through Golf Now was a great bargain for this course. I will definitely play here again.

Course condition not as good as I remember it from a couple of years ago. Scenery is beautiful. There are seven holes that require a long tee shot to carry over the marsh...for an older player like myself, these were a little too much (particularly the four in a row on the back nine), even though we played from the senior tees. I ended up with five penalties on tee shots, which certainly puts a damper on a golfer's day. Anything management could do to shorten these carries would make the course more attractive to me. Aside from this significant negative, the course layout is quite stunning.

Would play this course anytime of year chanllenging yet forgiving at the same time. Pace of play was great today

I have played the course on numerous occasions in season in the past. The course is well worth playing under those conditions. However, with a warm early winter day, two of us went out to play. On what would otherwise have been a day of light play in December, the course was fairly crowded. Management didn't supervise play, which was slowed down by a cart paths only policy for the day. The lack of attention to player's needs and management's failure to mention the conditions on booking or even until after we paid to play made for an awful day. When confronted by our complaints after 9 holes we were pretty much told this was our problem. That attitude is unprofessional. There are plenty of other places to play in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey and we'll be taking our business elsewhere in the future. Golf Now also displayed the wrong price for the round.
