Long & beautiful
My wife and I really enjoyed Mansion Ridge. It was our second round at this beautiful course. We were welcome by the friendly staff and after a quick bite at the club house, we teed off at 3:30pm and had no problems finishing our round in less than 4 and half hours. We had been paired with 2 very friendly members (Ed & Tina) who kindly helped us with lay-out of the course. I found the course to be long with a few holes with 200+ yards carry. Mansion Ridge was in absolutely great condition, with a few absolutely spectacular holes. We will be back for sure!
Get out and play this course!
I've been playing this course for a couple of years now and it has become one of my favorites in the Hudson Valley. The layout is awesome and provides some really great visuals. The course is usually in immaculate shape with receptive and fast greens. The greens were quite slow the last round I played but they should quicken up as the season progresses. The bunkers are the best in the area and well maintained. Keep your ball in the short grass or you might not find it in the fescue even if you saw exactly where it went in. The course gets much more difficult on the back 9. This course can be very easy to score on for the good ball striker as putts can be made on these flat and (normally) quick greens. Hunt for a good deal on the GolfNow site and get out and play this course!
This course has several interesting holes.
The course was in good shape for this time of year(early spring). It has several holes that are very challenging. The lay of the land was used to make some unique holes that are difficult but not unfair. The price I paid through Golf Now was a great bargain for this course. I will definitely play here again.
Too many long carries on tee shots
Course condition not as good as I remember it from a couple of years ago. Scenery is beautiful. There are seven holes that require a long tee shot to carry over the marsh...for an older player like myself, these were a little too much (particularly the four in a row on the back nine), even though we played from the senior tees. I ended up with five penalties on tee shots, which certainly puts a damper on a golfer's day. Anything management could do to shorten these carries would make the course more attractive to me. Aside from this significant negative, the course layout is quite stunning.
great course
Would play this course anytime of year chanllenging yet forgiving at the same time. Pace of play was great today
Good course; terrible management
I have played the course on numerous occasions in season in the past. The course is well worth playing under those conditions. However, with a warm early winter day, two of us went out to play. On what would otherwise have been a day of light play in December, the course was fairly crowded. Management didn't supervise play, which was slowed down by a cart paths only policy for the day. The lack of attention to player's needs and management's failure to mention the conditions on booking or even until after we paid to play made for an awful day. When confronted by our complaints after 9 holes we were pretty much told this was our problem. That attitude is unprofessional. There are plenty of other places to play in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey and we'll be taking our business elsewhere in the future. Golf Now also displayed the wrong price for the round.
Enjoyed the course and great value for price
Enjoyed the course and great value for price. Easy to use Golf Now, first time. Very nice course and pretty good condition.
This course is FANTASTIC
As the only Nicklaus design course in the NE, it's a "must play" (and must see)! Always in great condition and offering a good test of golf, look for GolfNOW.com discounted Tee Times & go play it!
HIGHLY recommended.
Beautiful setting, Challenging course, Immaculate conditions!
Our foursome played in October, we experienced amazing Fall colors in a mountainous setting. Altough late in the season the course was still maintained to perfection. Due to cart path only, there was quite a bit of walking involved, but well worth it. The course faced us with a variety of challenges, which forced us to constantly step up our game. After eighteen holes we were tired and yet inspired to play more, wanting to prove how much better we could do. That is what a course should do, Inspire you to reach your greatest potential. This course delivers.
Great 3 finishing holes!
Played after rainstorm 2 days prior. Cart paths only which added 30 min to round. Great course except for the 9th hole. very unfair par 5, good drives in center or right center of fairway manage to find left rough. So reaching this par 5 in 2 is almost impossible!!
Gorgeous but pricey
I do love Mansion Ridge, but it can take as much bite out of your wallet as an errant drive does to your score. The staff has their noses out of joint so just hurry up and pay and be on your way because the course is in great shape.
If you play from the tips, bring your A game. From the white tees(green) you can score if you keep it in play or close. The rough is forgiving and chipping around the greens is usually not too difficult. Sunday is normally pin#1. Play to the center of the green on most shots this day as there are planty of sucker placements unless it is up front.
Watch the cart speed as you dive down hole #8 or you could wind up a statistic.
Plenty of gorgeous vistas so bring a camera. Just don't slow down because pace of play is pretty good and the rangers do a decent job of keeping it that way.
Great Nicklaus design
Mansion Rifge is a great Jack Nicklaus design, but it lacks the character that is common with other Nicklaus venues. The conditions of the golf course do not meet the price you pay for greens fees. If I am going to pay one hundred or more dollars for a round of golf, then the conditions of the course should reflect that cost. Mansion Ridge falls way short of meeting that requirement.
Challenging but staff needs to lose the attitude
Very difficult course, but round was ruined by rude staff member. Definitely not worth the $100/round.
Nothing has changed
Unfortunately over the years nothing has changed at Mansion Ridge . I liked the course so much when it first open that I joined but soon realized how poorly it was run and left after a few years . It has been a while so I thought such a nice layout why not give Mansion another shot . A few weeks ago I made an late afternoon starting time for 2 persons.. We arrived early warmed up ( mates only no woods allowed yuck) , at our scheduled time headed to the first tee to be informed that there was an outing on the course and that we would have to wait or maybe they can work us in somewhere . It was late afternoon already and to have accepted payment for greens fees when knowingly you have an outing out on the course is completely unacceptable but not surprising for Mansion Ridge. We were joined by another twosome who were equally as frustrated and disappointed. We eventually found a spot and got 13 holes in , there should have been enough daylight for 18 but slow play and problems are nothing new to Mansion Ridge . In summary a nice course but just not worth the aggravation that seems to be there calling card . It was my birthday too.
