Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Traditional Course
Casperkill is in Old Time traditional Northeastern course with elevation changes tight Fairways and a nice variation of holes The the course was in great condition which it usually is, quick greens and tough pin placements. A challenge overall for any golfer but a worthwhile challenge to attempt. A nice course and a good test for any skill level
Carts
Carts are old and not responsive when stepping on gas pedal. They should be replaced.
Worth it!
T Jones Sr. track, former IBM executive course. Course in fine shape.
Good test of golf. Happy to say I passed!
Casperkill:More You Play, Improves Your Game
Having played Golf in a number of countries, found Casperkill to be challenging, esp back 9, and the more I play there, it actually improves my game. For those thinking about taking up Golf, suggest start at Casperkill. One request is to have awing on the driving range as afternoon/evening sun takes a toll with a large bucket of balls and difficult to see where shots going (esp after 5)!
Great layout for golfers
Always liked this course, but on a day after a storm the course should let you know along with Golfnow that it is cart path only. I have trouble with my legs so knowing that before hand would have been a help in deciding to play this course. Also the last five holes had NO water and on an 85 degree day that needs to be available. Also it is too bad that off course amenities are poorly lacking. The clubhouse could have spectacular potential with the outside deck with a great view but seems like the whole thing is an after thought
Will Play Again
Casperkill is about an hour and a quarter away with the trip mostly highway. It is worth the occasional trip.
The course is hilly but riding helps. We appeared to be the only players on the course. No one ahead and no one behind. The weather was glorious; low humidity and 70s.
The layout is good. The course twists about with more than a few hills. All of the greens (except the putting green) were in excellent shape. A tad slow but the rolls were true. The fairways were neat and clean with most divots filled. Bunkers were in good shape.
We played in about 3.75 hours but that included a change in carts (gas). Both the carts we got were a tad balky and one seemed to die. I think there's a secret code to get them going.
We had lunch after the round. Service was prompt. The menu is limited (usual golf course items) but tasty.
The staff was accommodating and friendly. They helped with the golf cart transfer.
Perfect conditions
The course was in great shape, the weather was perfect. The staff was friendly and the pace of golf was good.
well kept.
Over all very well taken care of . The sand traps ? . The course has always been nice.
Worth every penny.
Terrific layout, fun and challenging to play. If you get a golfnow hotdeal, GET IT!
Great course if you get right price
Great staff and course conditions, and has some challenging holes that require precise drives to reach green in regulation. 4 hour round for 2 is ok for a monday, however group in front of us shot from blues yet would be all over the place and slowed up the pace extremely as most groups were doubles
Not a good 1st Impression!
Where do I begin! My buddy and I drove 1.5 hours to the course. We arrived at 8:20 am which was our tee time (We normally arrive 30 minutes early, however we got lost since this was our first time traveling north to this course). Upon arrival we notice there is a golf outing scheduled to go out. We enter the pro shop to pay for our tee time. Jennifer says :it's 8:25 you can't go out" I showed her my phone and said "No it's exactly 8:20!" Jennifer proceeded to lecture myself and my buddy on "golf etiquette" as she wastes more time. Jennifer then takes us out to the starter and tells him "Here is my 8:20 that I didn't think was showing up" At this point we are like REALLY??? Finally after a lot of back and forth Jennifer takes our money and tells us we have to start on hole 2 due to the outing, Come to find out the outing started on the back 9, so not sure what the point of that was!
Course was very nice, tee boxes were plush, greens were in good shape.
We were greeted by another staff member named Danielle was was amazing! She was so nice, and thanked us for coming. Danielle was PRO all the way! Danielle should have been the first person we met at the course and our impression would have been different.
We played bad since we were aggravated about the way we were treated. NEVER GOT TO PLAY HOLE # 1!
Safe to say unless we are offered a discount, we won't be driving up north to waste our time and money at this course. Putnam and Beekman are a FAR better value and you are treated better
NO REASON TO SCHEDULE PUBLIC TEE TIMES WHEN YOU HAVE A GOLF OUTING IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE OR PERSONALITY TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS!
Nice Layout
1st time playing the course. Really enjoyed the layout and the conditions were great. Expect not to hit a lot of fairways and greens as they were narrow and tiny. Rough is fair.
