Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Good course, did not honor the lunch
Course was in good shape and not overly wet. Greens were in very good shape. The course did not honor the lunch deal that came with the booking and stated they intend to not participate with Golf Now in the future.
Casperkill
Paid Golf Now for Fee, cart and lunch. Arrived to find cart path only which stinks because of knee surgeries. Went in for lunch to find out oh were aren’t doing that until 5/3. Seriously who starts something on Weds the 3rd of the month. Staff was tied up trying to put up tent for outside dining. Sent person who had started work that day to tell us. Not the end of the world as the dining area looks a little dirty. Greens in great shape and course had a great layout. Slowed up on back nine as it looked like they slipped a twosome in front of us. Golf staff, Proshop and Staryer very friendly.
Great Course to Play
The fairways were in excellent shape. The greens are growing in nicely. Great conditions. Staff is absolutely terrific. Tim in the Pro Shop is so very helpful
Casperkill Golf Course
The course was in reasonable condition, however the greens had been aerated about a week before.
Second class treatment
Because we used a discount site to make/pay for round golf etiquette by course manager non existent. We were 40 minuets early and only another group went out to play we had to wait 30 minuets to tee off and told due to paying golf now discounted price. No other golfers showed within the 30min.
Old School
Great RTJ Sr. layout, beautifully maintained. Greens were in pristine mid season form on the last weekend of October - outstanding. Tees and fairways neatly clipped, and the falling leaves were manageable. Kudo's to grounds keeping staff. Pace of play was 4 hours on a busy and perfect Saturday afternoon. Only hiccup was that the golf cart didn't make it past hole #1. We pushed it to the side, placed a quick phone call to the pro shop and strapped on the bags. Amazingly the staff had the replacement cart on the 2nd tee box for us before we finished sinking our putts on #1. What responsive and excellent service! Our group would love to play this course again and again. Thank you to Casperkill!
Traditional Course
Casperkill is in Old Time traditional Northeastern course with elevation changes tight Fairways and a nice variation of holes The the course was in great condition which it usually is, quick greens and tough pin placements. A challenge overall for any golfer but a worthwhile challenge to attempt. A nice course and a good test for any skill level
Carts
Carts are old and not responsive when stepping on gas pedal. They should be replaced.
Worth it!
T Jones Sr. track, former IBM executive course. Course in fine shape.
Good test of golf. Happy to say I passed!
Casperkill:More You Play, Improves Your Game
Having played Golf in a number of countries, found Casperkill to be challenging, esp back 9, and the more I play there, it actually improves my game. For those thinking about taking up Golf, suggest start at Casperkill. One request is to have awing on the driving range as afternoon/evening sun takes a toll with a large bucket of balls and difficult to see where shots going (esp after 5)!
Great layout for golfers
Always liked this course, but on a day after a storm the course should let you know along with Golfnow that it is cart path only. I have trouble with my legs so knowing that before hand would have been a help in deciding to play this course. Also the last five holes had NO water and on an 85 degree day that needs to be available. Also it is too bad that off course amenities are poorly lacking. The clubhouse could have spectacular potential with the outside deck with a great view but seems like the whole thing is an after thought
Will Play Again
Casperkill is about an hour and a quarter away with the trip mostly highway. It is worth the occasional trip.
The course is hilly but riding helps. We appeared to be the only players on the course. No one ahead and no one behind. The weather was glorious; low humidity and 70s.
The layout is good. The course twists about with more than a few hills. All of the greens (except the putting green) were in excellent shape. A tad slow but the rolls were true. The fairways were neat and clean with most divots filled. Bunkers were in good shape.
We played in about 3.75 hours but that included a change in carts (gas). Both the carts we got were a tad balky and one seemed to die. I think there's a secret code to get them going.
We had lunch after the round. Service was prompt. The menu is limited (usual golf course items) but tasty.
The staff was accommodating and friendly. They helped with the golf cart transfer.
Perfect conditions
The course was in great shape, the weather was perfect. The staff was friendly and the pace of golf was good.
If this course is run by Billy Casper Golf Inc then I'm not surprised to hear about the rude treatment. That company manages Hudson Hills in Westchester where after being a regular player like 3x per week staff stole my golf clubs & bag and then perjured themselves in court as well. They even offered to sell me a new replacement set at a :"discount"
