Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

well kept.
Over all very well taken care of . The sand traps ? . The course has always been nice.
Worth every penny.
Terrific layout, fun and challenging to play. If you get a golfnow hotdeal, GET IT!
Great course if you get right price
Great staff and course conditions, and has some challenging holes that require precise drives to reach green in regulation. 4 hour round for 2 is ok for a monday, however group in front of us shot from blues yet would be all over the place and slowed up the pace extremely as most groups were doubles
Not a good 1st Impression!
Where do I begin! My buddy and I drove 1.5 hours to the course. We arrived at 8:20 am which was our tee time (We normally arrive 30 minutes early, however we got lost since this was our first time traveling north to this course). Upon arrival we notice there is a golf outing scheduled to go out. We enter the pro shop to pay for our tee time. Jennifer says :it's 8:25 you can't go out" I showed her my phone and said "No it's exactly 8:20!" Jennifer proceeded to lecture myself and my buddy on "golf etiquette" as she wastes more time. Jennifer then takes us out to the starter and tells him "Here is my 8:20 that I didn't think was showing up" At this point we are like REALLY??? Finally after a lot of back and forth Jennifer takes our money and tells us we have to start on hole 2 due to the outing, Come to find out the outing started on the back 9, so not sure what the point of that was!
Course was very nice, tee boxes were plush, greens were in good shape.
We were greeted by another staff member named Danielle was was amazing! She was so nice, and thanked us for coming. Danielle was PRO all the way! Danielle should have been the first person we met at the course and our impression would have been different.
We played bad since we were aggravated about the way we were treated. NEVER GOT TO PLAY HOLE # 1!
Safe to say unless we are offered a discount, we won't be driving up north to waste our time and money at this course. Putnam and Beekman are a FAR better value and you are treated better
NO REASON TO SCHEDULE PUBLIC TEE TIMES WHEN YOU HAVE A GOLF OUTING IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE OR PERSONALITY TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS!
Nice Layout
1st time playing the course. Really enjoyed the layout and the conditions were great. Expect not to hit a lot of fairways and greens as they were narrow and tiny. Rough is fair.
Disappointing
This course has incredible potential if only it was well managed.
The layouth is fantastic with plenty of challenge throughout but overall conditions just not good enough...busted teeboxes and furry greens just serve to highlight the lack of attention to detail.
The lack of Rangers on the course essentially turn's it into a free-for-all with horrendous pace of play (I waited minimum of 10 minutes at every hole before I gave up after 9 holes and went home). On top of that members jumping around from hole to hole created chaos...I was actually verbally accosted by an old woman on the 7th hole who, not realizing the couple behind me had jumped to the back 9, accused me of cutting ahead of them and cursed me out! I called the pro shop to ask for a ranger to be dispatched and was told someone would be right out...no one came.
Bottom line, this club just wants your money, has zero interest in actually providing a quality golf experience and is therefore not worthy of the patronage of anyone who truly appreciates the game of golf.
I recommend golfers try McCann or the Links at Unionville.
Staff very friendly, greens pretty hairy, difficult playing cart path only
Green & Course Conditions
The greens are very slow and bumpy. The rough once you miss the fairway was high, almost like U.S open rough.
NICE COURSE, BEEN PLATING THERE FOR YEARS. BUT NOW THE REG RATES ARE $50.00,, WHICH IS HIGHER THEN ALL OF THE OTHER COURSES IN THE AREAE. i USED GOLD NOW AND PAID LESS, OTHERWISE I PROBABLY WOULD NOT PLAY THERE ANYMORE.
ALSO THE MGR THERE IS NOT A NICE WOMAN. VERY RUDE AND NOT ACCOMMODATING TO HER GOLFERS.
SAD.
Poor pace of play during the weekend
Poor pace of play even after complaining to the ranger and staff nothing was done , when I complained to the staff they told me take it up with GolfNow
Solid track, local knowledge helps with tricky layout and greens
Beautifully designed track that requires shot making. Despite its short length, the course still presents many challenges to even advance golfers. With narrow fairways and many dog legs, target golf is required basically on all tee shots. The beautifully kept greens rolled true. Despite benign appearances they have many subtle breaks which makes putting tricky if played for the first time. Elevation changes on teebox and greens make holes play longer than stated. Super friendly staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Course conditions were fabulous from tee boxes to greens. And would definitely play again if in the area.
Spectacular layout, great value for the price
Casperkill is a classic Robert Trent Jones Junior course. The course was in fantastic shape cart paths of been recently repaired everything was positive. Great value for the price which included golf, cart and launch.
Greens not as fast, as predicted.
The reason for the title, the starter mentioned that later that day there was going to be a tournament. He said, " They had rolled the greens that morning for the high school championships". The greens on most of the holes weren't that fast, but they are undulating all the time. The course was in great shape considering all the rain. They had completed the repairs to the cart paths and pace of play was very good.
Best I"ve played in the area this year
I have played this course before but I have never seen it in this good of condition in many years. Unfortunately it was Golf Path Only so there was some inconvenience but the fairways were soaked so understandable for the ruling.
