Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Solid track, local knowledge helps with tricky layout and greens
Beautifully designed track that requires shot making. Despite its short length, the course still presents many challenges to even advance golfers. With narrow fairways and many dog legs, target golf is required basically on all tee shots. The beautifully kept greens rolled true. Despite benign appearances they have many subtle breaks which makes putting tricky if played for the first time. Elevation changes on teebox and greens make holes play longer than stated. Super friendly staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Course conditions were fabulous from tee boxes to greens. And would definitely play again if in the area.
Spectacular layout, great value for the price
Casperkill is a classic Robert Trent Jones Junior course. The course was in fantastic shape cart paths of been recently repaired everything was positive. Great value for the price which included golf, cart and launch.
Greens not as fast, as predicted.
The reason for the title, the starter mentioned that later that day there was going to be a tournament. He said, " They had rolled the greens that morning for the high school championships". The greens on most of the holes weren't that fast, but they are undulating all the time. The course was in great shape considering all the rain. They had completed the repairs to the cart paths and pace of play was very good.
Best I"ve played in the area this year
I have played this course before but I have never seen it in this good of condition in many years. Unfortunately it was Golf Path Only so there was some inconvenience but the fairways were soaked so understandable for the ruling.
Stuffy staff
I played with my 10 year old. I book times when it's not busy, later in the day, to respect the more serious players. Starter insists we play with a gentleman, even though the course was wide open. It was not said, but the starter seems to bear a grudge that we booked at a steep discount. At concession we buy hot dogs, the lady doles out packages of ketchup as if they were extremely valuable and claims there is no tap water, must purchase bottled. I'm quite sure we left a 9 iron in the cart, but next day went looking for it, but it was not found. Course is real nice, staff has attitude.
New Favorite
Interesting holes, good condition, greens in pretty good shape for early in the season. Overall this is a very good course. Worth driving the extra 45 minutes to play a 4 hour round instead of Down State Courses with 5 - 6 hour rounds. If the weather is good a beer on the Hudson is 15 minutes away.
Good Experience!
The course does have some damage mostly on fairways. Overall however the course was in good condition and well maintained. The greens were in great shape, compared to other courses in the area. Holes are lined with mature growth thus making the need to be "in play" important as there's trouble should you find the areas off the fairways.
Lovely experience
Great pace of play, great layout, greens are in decent shape. Staff was friendly and courteous.
Aerated, but swept sand - on the back 9
Love this course, but they had alot of rain, so the traps were concrete, the rough was... rough, and they had just aerated the back 9, and though they sanded the greens, they were bumpy and chaotic.
Always take an opportunity to play this course, regardless. It has views of the Hudson River Valley, and can be a great value on Golfnow!
Keeper
Great course I can't wait to play it again. The staff was super and the condition of the course was worth the 80 plus mile drive. We try different courses every week and this one is certainly a keeper. Thanks for a great day of golf!!
Great course
We had a great time. The course was beautiful and played the same. We will definitely be going back
Fun course to play
Course was in great shape, rough was thick and greens were slow. I expected greens to be quick since it was sunny and hot out. Overall I would recommend this course.
Casperkill
Fun course. Challenging but fun

Course in excellent condition.Greens were true and had good speed. Rough is tough to find ball because of clover. My twosome played 18 holes in less than 4 hours.
One of the premier courses to play in the area
As always, this course was a pleasure to play and got a bonus of playing extra holes thanks to an outing being held there. Excellent weather too.
The course conditions were awesome.. fairways, greens. A pleasure to play.
