I like the white sand
Great course could you move it closer to my house?
Wish I lived closer
Visiting from NJ and my buddy took us to the gem and it is fantastic! We pkayed it 3x's. There was really was nothing to complain about but if there is anything then there are lots and lots of bunkers and some just don't make sense, and some weren't well maintained, however, from what I understand the course is going to perform some renovations and a lot of the sand bunkers will now be grass bunkers. Bunkers cost a lot to maintain and the course will look and play better when completed, but still very playable. Call proshop for details Good POP, greens were excellent, staff is super freindly and we had a great time. If I lived in the area I would join... give it a go.
Really awesome course!
First time playing and what a pleasure it was! Even though it was raining most of the day my group had one of the most fun days of golf ever! The club house was really nice as well. Dan in the lounge was awesome too!
Spectacular
I had three foursomes scheduled to play this course, many for the first time. Was looking forward to what was a great morning of golf. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The driving range was nice as well.
The only disappointment came after the starter let us know it was a little wet. Now our group plays all winter at our home course, that is considered a pretty wet course. This however was ridiculously wet. The fairways were average for the time of year, but the rough was wet and the grass was extremely tall. If your tee shot was a foot into the rough it was probably gone. The greens ran true and good pace though. Seems they just didn't get the rough mowed all winter. I wish golf now would have warned us of the conditions ahead of booking. Maybe like the warning given when plugging has been done?
All said I will try this course again, but not until after May.
One of the best public courses in Portland metro
I always have a good time playing this course. Course condition was great. The staffs are very friendly.
Foggy morning at the reserve.
I have played the north course a couple of times and continue to be a big fan of this course. $45 included a cart and a small sack of warm up balls. For $5 more I opted for the large bag because the fog was thick and I was there early. After hitting at the range (and not being able to see the 100 yard markers, I moved to the huge practice green by the starters shack. Two guys had the tee time ahead of me were both wearing gaiters, which was a hint of the round to come. Having never played this course before, I decided to play the gold/blue combination tees which turned out to be a good choice for the conditions and my 18 handicap. The fog didn't clear until around noon at the seventh hole. I let another single play through but other than that, there were no issues with pace of play because I was moving pretty slowly. Of course the Reserve can't control the weather or the season, but I must have lost a dozen balls, not because of errant shots, but because my balls were plugging in the fairway. Also, the south course is known for its many bunkers but few of them would have been playable had I landed in one. Just about all were either filled with leaves and water or the sand was simply eroded away. I always have a great time at the Reserve. Just be prepared for the wet conditions, wear waterproof shoes and plenty of old balls that you don't care about losing!

Course is in bad shape now, due to weather
Unfortunate
I love this course as well as the North, the the high rough and very soft conditions made the round hard to get through. I had to leave after nine when you hit the ball and it land in the fair way and you can't find it because the ball gets plugged it becomes a unbearable. lost 15 balls in 9 holes. I don't always hit the fair way so if it landed in the rough it was gone. Like I said I love this course always have just not a good Fall/Winter course I guess. Would recommend this course anytime in the summer and spring.
Making Hasselhoff proud...
With 100+ bunkers, it's nearly impossible to hit a shot without a fear of getting sandy. A fun, fascinating challenge. Welcoming, friendly staff. A wonderful experience.
Beautiful Course!
The course is beautiful and well maintained. The fairways are immaculate and the greens are tight and true. Beware the sand traps...if you aren't adept at getting out of challenging bunkers then be prepared to have your score card brutalized. :) A wonderful day and worth the drive from Vancouver.
Well guarded greens
This was my first time out there, a well designed course with plenty of bunkers everywhere and around the greens to make you plan your approach shots. Some of the bunkers were wet despite the hot weather. Overall I enjoyed the course and would come back. Played much better on the back nine once I got used to the course and after my birdie as a wake-up call on hole 10.
I love this course
The course is in great shape. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.
A pleasure to play
Very nice course. well maintained. the greens were very smooth and fast. looking forward to my next visit.
Traps need grooming
this is a great course known for its numerous traps but most traps were not groomed yet. some were like cement and many had weeds and grass growing in the bunkers. weather is beautiful and the course was not in tip top shape yet.
Fun course
conditions great,
fairways nice
greens little thick but rolled out
I would play again
madman
This is a great course for the lower handicap golfer. The bunkers need some work, put sand in them, but other than that the course was in great shape.
South Course is always a blast
Booked a hot deal and for the course and facility is was a bargin. Course was in greats condition. Pace of play was great, for it being a Tuesday they had a beverage girl out there, which most courses only do on weekends.! Greens rolled true, a little slow but consistent. Got food afterwards and it was delicious.
Generous fairways and greens
But the bunkers are ready to swallow your balls if you miss hit. Great condition in February but very wet!
Great course - very wet though
We could only play seven holes because of an ongoing downpour. I frankly made a message - we were on a week plus road trip and I thought I'd booked this course for Saturday but alas had booked it on Sunday. Nevertheless, the staff was gracious enough to allow us to play on the private North Course instead of the public South course (which had an event ongoing). Very, very nice staff throughout!!
RING YOU SAND WEDGE!!
The South course of the Reserve is a fun challenge with tons of sand bunkers protecting the greens from sloppy role on shots!
I played in early fall and the course was in stunning shape with fast, challengeing greens. We played just a week before the
dreaded plugging and sanding so all of the green bits were nearly perfect.
The resturant has excellent fare with entrees that complete the happy golf day.

Don't give a 2 star review because you played in crumby conditions. People don't understand how reviews effect a business, Tell me ONE other course in the area that would have been in good condition that time of year! You play golf in the winter in Oregon, then you're a real golfer, BUT, we also DEAL with the weather the area gives us! Think before you speak, the damage could do harm you can't even know. BTW, how many "fair ways (fairways)" did you hit? Just saying....I agree it does not drain well, but what course does? Ever play Pumpkin Ridge in March/April? Just think before you speak. and proof read for crying out loud!
