Brunswick Golf Club - Magnolia/Dogwood
About
Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort is a 27-hole layout located in the fishing village of Calabash, North Carolina, abut 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach.
It has three distinct nines: the Magnolia, Azalea and Dogwood. On all nines, you need to hit the ball straight off the tee, taking care of the fairway bunkers, some of which are fairly high-lipped. The course has quick, bent-grass greens, moderately large, and lush, well-tended fairways set amidst tall, Carolina pines.
On the magnolia course, there are water holes, and the course is heavily mounded and bunkered.

Brunswick
Course was nice. The only problem we had was not enough signs directing you where to go. Plus two places where there were water hazards the did not have them marked. We had a great time and will be back.
Pure Greens
Brunswick is one my go to tracks and this was my 5th or 6th time playing it. The greens were in as good shape as I’ve even seen them. Rolling at a good 9 or 10. All other course conditions were good too. Love this place.
Brunswick Never Disappoints!
This was my 4th or 5th time here but my friend had never played this course. We were a two some and we were sent out behind the ladies association. We played Azalea for the first 9 and to me this is the hardest 9 ( they have 27 holes). We finished in under 2 hours ( the women were zooming!) and then went to Magnolia. I had never played Magnolia and it was wonderful. We were in our car heading back to the hotel in under four hours, start to finish!
The fairways were perfect. The greens were perfect. The tee boxes were great. Restrooms on each 9 and we had awesome weather to boot! If you ever have the chance to play here - take it! There are many great courses in the Myrtle Beach area but I don’t think you will find a better golfing experience anywhere!
Consistently Great
Brunswick Plantation is a guaranteed good day. I see a lot of reviews mention the lodging, etc. but were locals from Wilmington and play there at least 12 to 15 times a year. The staff is always courteous and professional and while the loading process can get a little chaotic at times the starters are always efficient and courteous. Course wise it's always in primo shape and the greens roll true. The rough is not for the faint of heart so being in the fairway/first cut is paramount.
Exceptional Course
Really great course, conditions from tee to green very good. You can tell the grounds crew knows what they are doing and work hard. Beautiful layout with scenic holes, water, great sculpting of fairways and around greens. Highly recommend!
Better today
Much better than yesterday.
Pace of play much better today.
Course conditions are great!
Staff always friendly.
I would recommend this place for sure
Painfully slow play
Got stuck behind 2 couples who were so painfully slow the twosome behind them quit after 10 holes
Never disappoints
One of my favorite courses, my buddy works here and does an amazing job with his co-workers on the maintenance of the course from bunkers to greens to fairways! Always a treat to play and the clubhouse staff are as friendly as all get out!
Fun course to play
Played 14 holes before the heavy rain stopped play. The course is coming back from a very dry summer so there are quite a few holes with bare spots that will come back soon with more rain and cooler temps. Greens rolled consistently on the slower side which is fine with me. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’ll be back to play it again.
Excellent layout and great shape Always!
A must play, greenskeepers do a superb job here, green roll fast and true, all tee boxes and fairways and bunkers maintained excellent!
Nice wide fairways mostly and nice looking holes with some water features, rolling fairways, etc A must play!
Afternoon golf
Everything was is pretty good shape.
Couple of tee boxes were showing wear, but the heat and lack of rain last month hurt most of the courses around here.
One green had a repair on an outer edge.
A few Cups had some wear and probably should have been moved sooner.
Staff was very nice.
We will be back.
Worth the experience
Could have been the 95 deg temps, but had the round to ourselves. Bogey golfers and never caught up to anyone (no surprise) but also never had anyone behind? Made for a comfortable round. Some tees and greenside fringes a little worn, but otherwise fairways, greens and bunkers well maintained. Even with the continued heat wave, greens were soft and rolling slow.

Nice Course. Greens rolled great. Fairways a little dried out but we have not had much rain. No complaints. Staff very friendly
