Approach shot on one of the holes.. shows the average putting green condition Photo submitted by dmhj4evr on 09/30/2013
Good Course, Not Busy, Greens Need a Little Work
The course is hilly and there are plenty of blind shots which make it difficult for first timers. We were able to play 18 holes on a nice early fall Sunday morning in just under 41/4 hrs. The tee boxes, fairways and bunkers were all in good shape. The greens were a little patchy and sandy but not the worst I've played on. If the greens and golf paths were better maintained, I would rate this course much higher. All-in-all, I would return here to play again.. especially if I can get through the round in just over 4hrs!
BALL SWALLOWING ROUGH
The course has a great layout and creates a nice challenge. The rough needs to be attended to as the ball gets buried below the surface and cannot be found even when slightly off the fairway. The greens have quite a few bad spots and areas that need to be corrected. This is the only course I have played in the past four months that has no course maintenance workers present (it shows). The best golfer in our group said he will never return.
In bad shape
The course was in pretty bad shape. There were several occasions where we lost our balls in the rough just slightly off the fairway. Rough was extremely long and the previously mowed grass was everywhere. Greens had just been aerated the week before but were in pretty bad shape as well (bald and sandy). I'm hoping the course bounces back quickly but I would not recommend for at least maybe another couple of weeks. They did provide us with a $20 voucher when we payed, so that took a lot of the "sting" out of the experience.
A success story for municipal golf....a recovered landfill. Perhaps a little too long for the average player, and managable from the senior tees.
Pick the right tees or you're in for a long day. Demanding driving course.
Nice Layout - Hidden greens from tee box
Lots of hidden greens from the Tee box, and since this was my first time at the course it made for an interesting round. I think they have bermuda grass just off the fairways, it will hide your ball, almost have to step on it to find a ball a couple of feet off the fairway. Very nice layout though.
Played fast, but greens poor
I have played this course many times over the years. The fairways were in very good condition, but the greens were the worst I have ever seen.
im glad i paid what i paid to play this course
Do not pay more than 20 dls to play this course ,renaissance gc is not whatever it used to be and I truly believe is overrated!!!
Convenient but not great value
I've played Renaissance many times before but finally came to the conclusion the value is just not there. The rough is poorly kept and we were losing golf balls less than 10 feet out of the fairways. Greens were in below-average condition also
Needs some attention, fairways and light rough.
I was not to happy with the condition of this course, I had played this course once previously a few years back and remember the condition of the fairways and upkeep to be better. The fairway grass was long, making it difficult to spot the ball when hit in the middle of the fairway and periodically led to drops with all players within the foursome. If the ball rolled off the fairway, it was almost impossible to recover. Until I hear or see a general improvement to the courses current condition, I will not be returning.
Grass was not cut
Unfortunately on the day we played, if you didn't land your ball in the fairway, you had no chance of finding the ball even in the secondary cut just off the fairways. The grass there had not been cut in some time. We were told this was a water pump problem.
I would wait until the pump is repaired and the grass is cut before playing here again. Otherwise it's an OK course.
Too much rough.
The greens are receptive and true. For a public course, the rough is too thick. Any ball missing the fairway requires an inordinate amount of time to locate. This only slows play, and does nothing to add to the golfing experience.
Great location....
Well kept and slightly challenging. Location..location...location!
Ridiculous Rough
The rough is so thick and deep that it adds probably an hour if not more to your rounds from just searching for your ball should it trickle into the rough, and with a lot of blind shots where you cant see where the ball landed it become quite the daunting task, greens were very good though.
The course is a great value
We played the course after a heavy rain and the course remained very playable. The greens were in good shape and scenery was nice. The fairways are requie several shots with the ball above & below your feet. Its worth a try.
Wonderful greens
Course is in great shape. Greens were wonderful, better than most in the area. Was able to get special rate which made the value that much better. Looking forward to playing again.
This is a fun course to play
This was my first time to play this course. Played almost like a mountain course with lots of elevation changes, hills, elevated tees and greens. It was challenging but with room for forgiving an errant shot. The fairways were in decent shape but could use some work. The greens though were in great shape. For the price, I'll be playing there again.
Needs work
I took my 5 year old son to the course with me. The staff was very receptive to having him there. They gave home a free small bucket to warm up with. The course wasn't in great shape. The first hole I hit a drive right down the middle and couldn't find the ball. The grass was dormant and you had a tough time to find the balls. The layout wasn't too bad, there are several moguls and very few flat lies. Not sure I will go back.
A nice variety of different looking and playing holes.
overall, a nice layout. holes are all different , with the par three 13th spectacular. Both nines end with great holes. only negative, was the course condition, but overall a nice track. would recommend this course at the price we played.
Nice Course, with challenging blind greens and a lot of elevation.
